I know everyone is different, but I was just trying to get an idea of how long it takes. DS1 has to be PT before PK3 next year. Also, do you remember how long it took to be PT during the day and then at night? We haven't tried night yet. Thanks for any info.

Re: How long did it take to PT your DS?
About a week for each of them with going full tilt (no diapers, only underwear, etc)
They were both 20 months.
Overnight was a totally different thing for them. We waited until they started waking up dry on a regular basis.
My oldest still struggles with overnight bladder control at almost 5 but my youngest didn't have any overnight accidents after about age 3.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
I read the book 3 day potty training which I found to be recommended on the bump last summer. I put DS1 though training in Aug last year so he was a little more than 2.5 years old.
It took us the 3 days. DS had day time accidents once a day or every few days for a week or so after the intense 3 day training period. Overnight took a little longer and he still on occasion wets the bed over night but that is normal.
I highly recommend 3 day potty training. We threw away all his diapers and said hello to underwear. We never used pullups not even overnight.
I have read a few other books by the other with great success too. Her methods take commitment and consistancy but have worked for sleep training ds2, potty training ds1, and finding peace from tantrums ( at least most of the time). Her name is Lora Jenson and they are ebooks.
My DS has been PTing for a year ugh! He will be 4 in Aug. Luckily his Preschool unofficially allows them not to be potty trained. Over Christmas break he finally was able to start going on the potty regularly and now he only wears pullups to school because for some reason he doesn't like the potty there that is his size. My DS figured out going on the potty was something I couldn't control.
My pedi. told me that every kid goes to kindnergarten PTed which helped me a lot when I was so frusterated with him.
And for him hershey kisses are the best reward for going on the potty. I know a lot of moms dont' believe in bribes but it does work. And now that he's going all the time I do tell him no at times and he doesn't fight that he does not get his hershey kiss.
It took about 5 months. DS was totally potty trained by age 3. We dropped the night time pull ups around 3 yrs and two months.
However, both of my sisters just had babies and after he was around his baby cousins, he started regressing like a baby! Ugggh.
Hopefully he'll come out of that phase quickly!
DS 2 was PT in about 2 weeks during the day, and after two months at night (on his own), but we waited until he was 3 1/2, he just wasn't ready before. PT was not a requirement at the preschool he is going to.
DD 1 PT herself at 2 years 2 months during the day, but is still using a pull up at night. We are not pushing night time training.
It took DS about 2 solid weeks of PT to have no accidents. We did it when he was 2 months away from turning 3. DS was night trained the same time he was day trained. He woke up dry 3 days in a row while we were potty training and we stopped putting pull ups on him at night.
IMO it's a lot easier when they are ready. DS first peed on the potty in April but wasn't ready to PT until August.

I thought it'd be quicker when I potty trained DS2 than it was for DS1 because he'd see his brother going but nope, it wasn't any quicker.
I think that it took us about 4-5 months of just progressing from pullups to underwear accidents to no accidents during the day in underwear. He still wears a pullup at night but hasn't wetted one in about a week. For some reason, if I put him in underwear without fail he'll pee the bed. He did about a month of straight nightly peeing and it started affected his skin because of eczema and then also well at that point you realize that he's just not ready for underwear at night. KWIM?
