I'm tired of PBJ and feeling at a loss for what to have for lunches that aren't frozen and don't involve deli meats since I don't have a wait to heat them.
I take dinner leftovers when I can but what do you all do for lunch?
I eat out alot. I've been spending about $100 a week just on my lunches. Lately though I've been on a Hot Pocket streak. Maybe try making salads or just eating snacks throught your day. I bring a lunchbag and stick an ice pack and everything manages to stay cold. I bring oatmeal, oranges, apples, watermelon, peanuts, and sometimes chips.
You can heat your deli meat ahead of time. My doctor said if I want to heat it all up right when I buy it and then keep it in the fridge to use whenever, that was fine. You just have to heat it at some point, not necessarily eat it while it's warm.
Henry - Born October 1, 2011
Baby #2 - Due August 30, 2013!
Regular salads with pieces of chicken, cheese, hard boiled egg, etc. for protein.
Taco salads w/ ground beef, soft tacos, etc. Make some ground beef in advance and throw it together last minute. You can even freeze it after cooking.
Soups. An easy homemade variety is an italian pasta fagioli. Brown some loose sausage, add stock/water, tomato sauce/paste, italian spices, carrots/celery, canned red and white beans (rinsed) and pasta.
Bread a piece of chicken breast and either bake it or fry it up in the frying pan. Delicious dinner one night, even better cold, with mayo on a sandwich the next day! Or grilled chicken sandwiches.
We have a microwave in our lounge so leftovers are my go to option.
I get pretty creative with lunches, well I read a lot of lunch box blogs and steal ideas from them. Soups, stirfries, non lunch meat sandwiches, etc. Today I had a broccoli and cheese wrap, carrot sticks, badman chips, goldfish crackers, and a couple of chocolate covered pretzels. Tomorrow is peanut butter and peach cream cheese, orange, and some angel food cake. Later on this week is broccoli soup and mixed green salad.
I've been eating a lot of cheddar cheese and crackers. It's cheap and i looooooove cheese. What about chicken salad or tuna salad (every once in a while) on toast or crackers?
i dont even heat my deli meat my doctor says its fine..... as long as i get it from like a big supermarket ..i eat sandwiches all the time!! hot dogs too lol
Just eat the deli meat! I've been practically living off bologna sandwiches with this pregnancy and lived off turkey sandwiches with DD. DD is a perfectly healthy 2.5 y/o and I had no problems during my pregnancy. Baby #2 is also perfectly healthy and growing fine. Seriously, if you listen to everything you aren't supposed to eat for whatever reason, you may as well figure out a way to live off water and air for 10 months

Me and the hubby will make bean, rice, cheese, and meat burritos and freeze them. Take them to work, with a small tupperware of salsa or sour cream (or no-sugar yogurt), then you microwave them for lunch. Its actually really nice, because you can prepare a lot and just have them ready in the freezer in the morning.
I'm having a BLT today! (With the fancy good organic bacon that doesn't have all the bad stuff in it) But yes, dinner leftovers are great. Burritos! Pizza!

Early on I did cheese and crackers (helped with my morning sickness), pita sandwiches or wrap sandwiches with chicken are yummy and filling, hummus and pita chips are good too. I also throw in some frozen dinners once or twice a week to mix it up instead of just PB&J and periodically a low sodium/low fat turkey sandwich.
Re: bored with my lunches but can't do deli meat - options?
Mostly dinner leftovers.
Or I'll do a sandwich with hummus and veggies (either roasted or raw).
Homemade chicken/egg salad sandwiches.
