**kafunder**

I was looking at your 3 month schedule in the post below, which is basically our goal in the next month, and wondered how you got there from before they STTN.  My twins are 2 months old and not quite STTN yet (DS is getting close, I think; DD may still have a ways to go since she's smaller).  We generally follow a 3-hour eat, wake, sleep schedule throughout the day.  But we don't put them down for the night now until around 11 or 12, and they still wake up between 2 and 4 to eat (I think DS could drop this feeding, but I'm not sure how to get him to do so).

Basically, I'm wondering what your schedule looked like around 2 months, and what, if anything, you did to get to the 3 month asleep from 8-5 schedule (e.g. moving bedtime earlier, etc.)?  Thanks!

  • At the risk of looking like an idiot...what is STTN? Is this something to do with nursing and sleep?

  • STTN = sleep through the night

  • Thanks!  I'm going to blame this on pregnancy brain since it makes me feel less stupid Big Smile

  • We were basically on this schedule right from the start until 6.5 months old. I started the schedule right when we brought them home from the hospital although their actual awake times changed as they got older and for the first few weks, they did go to bed later. We moved up their bedtime after their first few weeks from 10pm to 8pm b/c they wre getting so cranky at night. Around 2 months, they started sleeping from 8pm-2am and then would wake at 2am for about 30 minutes (just to play), and then would go back to sleep until the 5am feeding. Before that, they were up to eat. I have to admit that our LOs still aren't consistently STTN despite my best attempts, but because of this routine, they have always gone to bed easily and been decent nappers (except during the 4-month wakeful period).

Hope that answers your questions, but if you have any more, let me know.

  • Thanks!  Maybe we'll just try putting them to bed earlier, since it's pretty hard to keep them awake and happy between 8 and 11pm as it is.
