I overhead a mother and father talking to their young daughter at the store. They called her Mason.

How on earth is MASON a girl's name? That was my number one choice for my son, but alas, DH did not agree to it. Now I'm almost glad.

To me, Mason conjures up images of freemasons and men working with their hands. It does not conjure up images of sweet little girls or even adult women. Dislike!

Although one of my biggest pet peeves is boy names turned girl names. I cannot (hopefully!) forsee this one becoming an issue since it is terrible terrible terrible as a girls name!

Kelsey Grammer has a daughter named Mason (and Spencer).

I grew up in Mason County so it seems like a ridiculous name to me. I pray it's spelled correctly...

Yep.  The Grammers did indeed name their daughter Mason.  I like it for a boy but not a girl.

I know of a teenage girl named Macen - pronounced like Mason. I thought it was the worst boy turned girl name when I heard it and even more so when I saw it spelled that way... yikes!
