I think he is dead. They used familial DNA to prove it was him--they also had his brothers-he would have similar DNA (he also died in the attack) and several other family members DNA. They have had this for almost 5-6 years. They also had dental records, health & physical features leaving very close to no doubt-98% sure : )
They had to bury him within 24 hours to respect Muslim tradition, and they chose to do it at sea so his burial site couldn't become some type of shrine. They have photos and DNA evidence. If they hadn't buried him that way people would be all up in arms for other reasons. I swear, no one is satisfied with anything these days.

I'm sure they also did it to avoid the likelihood of a burial site turning into a shrine/martyr symbol as well as debate on "what to do with the body" and who should take possession of it. Best to dispose of it quickly in a manner consistent with customs.

I know! Clearly the best way to handle this in the eyes of the Americans would be to have the Donald perform the autopsy himself.
I thought they burried him at sea out of respect for his Islamic beliefs? Although, I don't know much about Islam, so I can't say that for sure.
I do believe he is dead. When he was actually killed, I might doubt, but it doesn't really matter. As for the proof, I mean, how would they ever prove it? I don't think it's right to show his dead body to the entire world.

I'm laughing at this...but sadly, it's probably true.

There are autopsy photos.
Are they showing those?
I guess that's what I meant...what do people want for proof? Is a photo enough? Do you think they manipulated the DNA tests? What will make people happy? KWIM?
I can understand how people might not believe it b/c of the quick burial, but I really think that if he wasn't dead there would be a video of him alive in some cave some where announcing that he is in fact alive. So until Osama himself comes out saying he is not dead I will believe he is fish food.
don't you think if he was still alive, there would be a video of him with today's paper in front of him laughing at the US??? I mean, it would be a ridiculous lie for the US to make up because it would just totally backfire.
Unless people think they have captured him and he's alive..but again...why would the US lie? they would just say "we've captured him!"

Yeah, I wasn't much for the public hanging of Sadam. I don't want to see. He was shot in the face anyhow.
Sadam was hung by the Iraqi government.
I am surprised that the government didn't anticipate the skepticism that would come with an announcement of this nature and be prepared to answer. That in itself can fuel the conspiracy theory.
promised myself I'd retire when I turned gold, and yet here I am

Actually I think there will be doctored videos of him released to mess with us and fuel the conspiracy theorists!
Re: alright, conspiracy theorists
Islamist generally bury quickly & at sea (actually in a river)--that is a cultural trait. I think they did it out of respect (?)
This is what I've heard.

I don't doubt that he is dead. I have some doubts that the events occurred exactly as reported.
There are variables to consider, over and above the end result.

He's hanging out with Elvis, Tupac and Biggie. Duh!

My bad. I knew I was forgetting someone!
Smokin' a jo!nt with Tupac?
