Fever then rash?

E has had a fever all weekend, 101-102.5, no other symptoms other than runny nose and teething, not real fussy. Well....send him to DC today with no fever (yay!) now he has a rash, and its spreading fairly quick and he's really fussy. Can you think of what it might be??? I'm going to put in a call to the pedi when they open, but neither my H or I can't just leave work, we both work in a hospital, but we have my mom. I just feel horrible, I want to be there for him, but I can't. Oh and we leave for Florida tomorrow evening.

Any suggestions, TIA!!

Re: Fever then rash?

  • Roseola virus... you get a fever for 3 days then break out in a rash. Once you get the rash with no fever you are not contagious.

This is whatI was gonna say.  Noah just had this a few weeks ago.

  • Ditto PP.

I will warn you, when S had it... the rash made him miserable! He was better 2-3 days after the rash started.

    Good luck!

  • Thank goodness, and I talked to a couple of drs. I work with and they said the exact same thing you ladies did! Thanks so much, my mind is at ease!
  • Ask your pedi about possibly giving your LO Benadryl to ease the discomfort with the rash, that's what mine recommended when my DD#2 had it last fall and it did help.
