I wouldn't even do it let alone admit it! Ten minutes sucks, but it's not that long. I don't get why she didn't think to sit in the back seat instead of holding him. I don't even want to think about what could have happened. Yikes!

Exactly! If it was that awful, I would have pulled to the side of the road. Taking a baby out of a carseat while driving, especially on a freeway!?
OMG that's awful. Cooper screamed in the car almost all the time for what seemed like most of his first year. I never took him out while we were driving. I pulled over sometimes and nursed him sometimes and sometimes gave him food or a bottle while we were driving. But I never ever thought it was a good idea to drive with him out of the car seat!!! This person is crazy to think it was ok since it was only 10 minutes. Um, it was only 10 minutes that he would have to cry to get home safely. Suck it up mom.
On the freaking freeway? My blood is boiling. Grow a pair lady. Parenting isn't easy. If you can't hack your kid having a meltdown then you aren't going to do very well at this whole mom thing.

Um, I understand a screaming baby, but I would never take him out of his seat while in the car. When we were stuck in Memorial Day traffic over Snoqualmie last year, the worst I did was hover over his seat so he could nurse. It never occuured to me to even consider taking him out even though we were crawling.
I can't imagine driving down the freeway without either of my children in their carseat.
I'm guessing there are other parents out there who've done stuff like this in a moment of desperation, whether it was ill advised or not, and would never, ever admit it.
I'm thinking she was just looking for a reaction based on the fact that she had to
edit to add an explanation of why she posted about it at all. In her un-edited post she wasn't asking for advice or asking any questions...just announcing what she had done.
It's absolutely terrible that she did it, and like pp's said 10 minutes is not that long. Oy!
ETA: And now that I've read the responses I see I'm not the only one that didn't get why she even posted it in the first place.
Re: GW: there is no way I would post about doing this

Stupid TB, yes. But I already found it. Thanks though, D.

Even better than OP is the one who chimed in with "what if the baby got DEHYDRATED from crying..."
Um. WTF? I almost want to google to see if that has EVER happened...but luckily I posses common sense.
