*Cute lunch check-in*

We continued the Easter theme for quite a few days this week. I like to do that because while anticipating a holiday is fun, for my DD at least, it's not until the holiday is over that she finally "gets" it and really wants to talk about it. It wasn't enough to make her like egg salad, though!

Egg-shaped sandwich with some berries, carrots, dried mangoes in the dish and a leftover Easter egg - which went untouched, as did the sandwich.

Very last-minute lunch of egg salad (untouched), egg-shaped bread and a spectacular orange. The Babybel cheese owl peeking out up top is my favorite!

A to-go lunch, packed tightly in a bento box so there would be no movement (and it looked exactly the same when we got to the zoo! hooray!). A ham & cheese sandwich, a "baran" separator sheet to keep the sandwich dry, apples, grapes a strawberry and cookie treat. It honestly does my heart good to see my DD's eyes light up when she opens up the lunchbox and says, "Ooh! Apples!" Our zoo has few healthy food choices. When I don't pack a whole lunch to take there, I always pack some fruit in a small container to supplement the chicken and fries or whatever we order.

Leftover noodles in a silicone flowerpot cupcake container (from Michael's Mary Engelbreit collection - I love this!), orange slices, some grape tomatoes on picks and Parmesan cheese in the little chick container.

Have a great week!

  • Totally adorable!

You know- one day your daughter will have really sweet memories of how you make her lunch "special" for her everyday. It really is such a little thing, but I bet means so much to her. I bet she will treasure it always.

    Good for you! =)

  • Can I play?  My DD isn't pre-school age yet - she's barely 1 year old, but I've been lurking on your posts and think it's a great idea!  I don't think DD cares what her lunch looks like yet, but I enjoy it.  I already snatched up SIL's tub of cookie cutters that she was getting rid of when they moved.

I had one cute-ish lunch last week. I try to make our sandwich bread and now that DD is starting to be able to handle little sandwiches, I decided to throw some of the dough into my old Pampered Chef flower-shaped bread tube.  So we had a flower-themed lunch.

Almond butter sandwich flower, apple slices with the centers cut out in a flower shape, and a flower from strawberry slices and frozen blueberries.  The sandwich flower stem is wheatgrass from her Easter basket.
