I just started considering CD'ing and this is my first child. DH found me the following site and I wondered if it seemed overboard or a good deal. TIA!!
https://www.greenbabydiaperservice.com/
It seems so expensive to me... you can buy almost an entire NB stash of prefolds/covers for what you'd pay for one month. You can then reuse them for another baby! Prefolds new (for really good ones at greenmountaindiapers.com) are $24/dozen. 2-3 dozen is more than enough for washing every other day. Snappis are $10/3. Covers are $10-14/each, you'd need 4-6. So for $150 you could have a stash of brand new diapers you keep for as long as they last! Wetbags are $20 or less, too. Washing isn't hard, you will already be doing LOTS of laundry with a new baby in the house! It's just one extra load, and prefolds are pretty hard to mess up. If you buy used, you can save a ton more money, too. Spots Corner on hyena cart is great.
Plus, a diaper service limits you to just prefolds and covers. If you wanted to try other types of diapers (AIO, pockets, fitteds, etc.) you'd have to wash these yourself anyways. The only awesome thing was the stripping service - totally need one of those around here!
Check out the FAQs at the top of the board, too.
