Baby Names

Names for our hypothetical non-existant child

So the hubs and I were talking baby names for our future children. What do y'all think? Our last name is Irish - think McBlahblah

My names:

Gavin Paul

Delilah Christi

Jackson Paul

Rhys Paul

Hub's Choices (I wish I was making this up...)

Thor

Freud

Morgan Ann ( after Captain Morgan & one of his prostitute lovers)

Needless to say, I think I'm going to have to name these children

Jackson is the only one I like and I don't really care for the MN Paul, but that's just my opinion. I agree with you - you better have a strong influence on the naming of your future children! LOL!

I agree - clearly your DH cannot be trusted to name a child with suggestions like Thor. Just sayin'.... ! hehe

But I like Rhys - its one of my faves. That said, I dont like mono-syllabic first names with mono-syllabic middle names. What about Rhys Jackson McBlahBlah?

  • Paul and Christi are family names that I want to try to keep, but I guess it depends on how many kids I pop out!

He says his reasoning for Freud is that we'll always have the most sexually educated child. That's not a good thing haha

I also like the name Alice, but he hates it as it has a negative connotation for him :(

     I like Rhys Jackson!

  • I like Gavin and Rhys. Delilah is not the greatest woman in the Bible so I wouldn't use it. If you're not familiar with that story then it probably wouldn't be to bad of a name.

Ditto the connotation of Delilah. Even if the OP isn't familiar with the story, a heck of a lot of other people are.

In general, none of the names on either of your lists are my style, but they're also very different from each other between the lists. Good luck coming to an agreement.

Wait, I can't get past prostitute lovers.

I guess I'd go with Jackson Paul out of your list. Your husband sure has an iteresting list!

I like the name Delilah whether or not you know the story in the bible I think it is a pretty name and I like the sound of Delilah Christi.  I am all for biblical names they can be beautiful and strong.  Obviously this is my opinion and should be taken with a grain of salt considering I named my son Cain.  I guess you would be the kind of people to turn up their nose at my LO in the grocery store.  One second saying how cute he is and the next second huffing and walking away after learning his name.  It is my MILs maiden name and I like it.  For good measure we named him Cain Daniel which has a nice ring to it if I do say so myself.  Daniel is my dad's name.  So to the OP if you like it go with it there will always be somebody who doesn't to the many who do!

  • Believe me, we've been married 2 years now and life has definitely been interesting. When he came up with Morgan Ann, I thought "that's nice, and kind of normal" which made me ask where he got it from. So yeah....

We're going to start TTC at the end of the year once things settle from my graduation from nursing school and job change.

FWIW, I know the biblical meaning for Delilah and that doesn't really matter to us.

Marie is another family name that I could use for the girls too.

  • Yeah- hubby's naming rights are hereby revoked. :) GL!

I really like Delilah and Rhys!

    1. tell your husband no way on all of those

    2. here's my opinion on your choices:

Gavin Paul -nms but two good, legitimate names

Delilah Christi -some people take issue with the backstory of delilah but i think it's pretty and love the nickname lila/ lilah. christi is not a good spelling and i don't think it sounds very good as a middle name. christine is better.

Jackson Paul -jackson is so popular but a good name, as is paul

Rhys Paul -rhys is my favorite but i would try to find a longer middle name to pair with it so it flows better. i would also ask around for a long time [you can start now] to see if people even know how to pronounce rhys. i do, but i doubt most people in my area would so that would be important.

Morgan Ann ( after Captain Morgan & one of his prostitute lovers)

One of his protitute lovers?  My gawd, how many did he have?

FWIW, I don't like any of your names and I'm having a REALLY hard time getting past the multiple prostitutes he slept with.  Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Apparently so....none of his names would ever fly and I was so amused and bewildered that I had to share it with people I don't know.

Thank you! FWIW, I like the name Cain. A name is just a name, it's what you make of it.

  • I like Rhys and Gavin.
