Hi everyone,
I currently have a 3 year old daughter and a 4 year old niece that I take care of. I was wondering if anyone here plans on or is thinking about homeschool their child? Where did you get the information? What books do you plan on buying? Etc. I have read a few books and talked with a few homeschooling moms at our church but i'm looking for information from other moms regarding what materials/schedule/etc are being used.
Re: Combined Intro and Homeschool post
We do homeschool preschool, I got a lot of my info here:
https://ourpreschoolhomeschool.blogspot.com/
she also has links to their homeschool elementary and highschool on this blog.
Our DS is almost 4 and we have a subscription to starfall.com which is great. You can do it for free too, you just won't get full access to the site. Not only is he able to do a lot on the computer but they have printables as well.
thehomeschoolmom.com has lot of great links and info
apples4theteather.com
kidzone.ws
That's just a general start, there other sites I have but it's mostly computer based.
I'm homeschooling DS in preschool this year and we'll begin kindergarten in the fall. I taught for seven years, so I had a lot of resources. For curriculum I read Cathy Duffy's 100 Top Picks for Homeschooling Curriculum. She also has a website with reviews on it. I used homeschoolreviews.com as well. Once I had an idea of what I wanted, I went to a convention (only the exhibit hall, I didn't attend any workshops) and looked through everything. I bought the workbooks new and teacher manuals used from homeschoolclassifieds.com I've read some posts on message boards that people have bad experiences buying used items online, but I have had pretty good luck and have saved over $200 buying used. You can also check craigslist, I did find some books on there. I found some science and social studies supplements at Half Price Books. You can email me if you'd like to chat!
