Infertility Veterans

dosages seem off

I was looking at my calendar and the doc has put me on 225 iu's of Follistim and 75 of menopur.  The last doc I was going to do IVF through was going to put me on 75 iu's of follistim and 75 of menopur.  Does this seem high?  My b/w came back about the same so I'm a bit confused about the difference.  I will see my doc on the 12th so I will be able to ask her then, but I about peed myself when I saw 225 on there. Re: dosages seem off

  • I think that is a pretty standard dose. That is what I sarted out at for my first IVF, and stayed on the same dose the whole time. For our next cycle I'll be starting out at 525iu Gonal F and 75 Menopur. Now that is high!

  • Dr. J started me off pretty high (can't remember exact doses) and backed me off at each visit. I think she likes to have a lot of follies started in the beginning :)

  • That doesn't sound too bad. For this current IVF, I was on 150 of follistim in the AM, and 75 of follistim in the PM as well as 75 of Menopur in the PM. After a few days, my PM follistim dose was backed down to 50, with no other changes. Best of luck!

  • I was on max dose for my IVF's with 350 gonal f and 150 repronex. So your dose is not high in comparison. It is hard switching clinics and RE's because you compare your last experience. But remember sometimes change is good!

  • It seems about right to me.  I was on way more than that for my last cycle.  My next cycle I will be on 300iu of bravelle and 75 for Luvaris.

  • Nope that is what I started at ( but with Gonal F not Follistim) and then at day 7 I dropped to 150 IU of Gonal F.

I think 225 IU of Gonal/Follistim and 75 menopur is a typical starting dosage.
