Dumb twin pregnancy comment

Just had to share this conversation I had yesterday with a co-worker.  Keep in mind this person is a medical professional, Respiratory Therapist to be exact...

CW: "So have you had an ultrasound yet?"

Me: "Yes, I've had 3 so far.  I will get frequent ultrasounds to monitor their growth closely"

CW: "Well my daughter weighed over 10 lbs when she was born so it was just like having 2 smaller babies"

Me: "Wow...That's pretty big... Having twins is high risk though..."

I went on to try to tell her how their are increased risks for complications like pre-term labor, preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, etc.  However I don't think she was listening...  Sigh...

Yeah...I have a friend tell me since she has 3 boys, ages 4, 2, and 1 it's like having triplets... Ummmm not saying your life isn't hard cause u have three kids... But not so much pumpkin... U didn't carry them all at once. I think it's just their way of trying to relate somehow.

Can't tell you how much i heard this during pregnancy. It was rediculous for people to compare but they did anyway. Sigh...some people are just dumb!

I'm never really sure what people are trying to accomplish when they make comments like this but I always agree they had it worse than I do. I would SO MUCH rather have twins and do every stage at the same time than have 2 (or 3) just far enough apart that it spreads everything out. It seems to make them happy when I agree they had it worse than I do...

My 38w guys were small compared to many full term babies on the board and I still had 11lb 5oz of baby in me.

People are seriously stupid. I had a girl tell me on FB that a twin pregnancy is no different than a singleton and that there is no reason It would require more frequent monitoring!

No it's not just like 2 smaller babies.  4 hands, 4 feet, 20 fingers, 20 toes, 2 HEADS.  I'm so glad I can't get out much LOL.

Some people think it is a competition or don't know what to say and are trying to relate.  This will prepare you for the "Mine are X amount of time apart which is just like having twins" comments.

people that think carrying one baby is the same as carrying 2 are dumb bc its not...i have 3 kids now im pregnate with twins this twin pregnancy has been much more painful...my other 3 kids are 8, 4 and 3 and i dont belive that having the 4 and 3 yr old so close together is gonna be anything like taking care of twins..
