Let us talk bed rest-

Anyone on bedrest?  Modified or strict?  How are you dealing with it?

I have been on modifed bed rest for the past few days and it now has been elevated to strict bed rest until my appointment on Monday- then I hope it goes away.

Re: Let us talk bed rest-

  • I've been on bedrest for about 2.5 weeks now. Most likely, I will be on bedrest for the remainder of this pregnancy.

I've been watching a LOT of tv, reading books, & spending waaay too much time on TB. Stick out tongue

I've been trying to keep my spirits high but it can be pretty depressing. I just keep reminding myself that it will be worth it in the end to give birth to a healthy, full term little boy.

  • why did they put you on? For most reasons you will be on till at least 35 weeks, (like if it is for cervix changing)

I was on for my son, strict, from 29 weeks to 35 when my water broke, but I was on for contractions, dilation and a positive ffn. This time I am contracting but won't be put on bed rest until my cervix changes (the contractions alone, though very close, are not causing progression)

Make sure to introduce yourself to the bed rest ladies on the high risk pregnancy board.

And ways to deal with it, I made stuffed animals for LO with a book of patterns from barnes and noble and a basket of 1/2 yards of different fabric that DH went out and bought for me. Having a laptop helps but it doesnt take long to get sick of TV and computers in general.

  • Well, this is my second time being placed on bed rest.  Both related to my blood pressure.  I had hypertension prior to my pregnancy so I'm considered "high risk".  My doctor informed me when early on that I would more than likely be placed on home bed rest then hospital bed rest toward the end of the pregnancy due to the hypertension.  I've just been trying to avoid it at all costs.  My goal is to work at least all the way through May.

When I was on bed rest the first time I read, caught up on shows on my dvr and threw myself daily pity parties. Crying LOL.

Hope you hear good news soon and bed rest is lifted.

  • Sorry, I will add I am on due to high blood pressure, elevated platelets, protein in my urine and swelling.

Thanks for all the info and suggestions thus far.  I was just thrown off because at 30 weeks I still figured I had a lot of time to get the things done I needed to.  I have to keep my eye on the prize- healthy full term baby girl.

Yup. I've been on bedrest since I was 17 weeks.....so since the end of January. It has been "modified" (due to shortening cervix) and it has been AWFUL.

I'm sorry......I'm not very positive about this right now. I am SO very grateful to still be PG, but I have 2 boys under the age of 4 and a DH who works 70 hours a week so this has been a major nightmare.

It has been emotionally and financially difficult. I decided to work part-time this year to help cut down on the day care costs and instead we are now having to pay double for day care in order to have help. We also had to hire a cleaning service.

It has just been really, really hard. They told me I could increase my activity last week, so I have been getting out a bit more, but we are still nervous about a preemie, so we are keeping the help until 34 weeks.

Assuming my BP stays stable (I have also had high BP lately....), they will take me off at 34 weeks.

I don't have much advice because both of my boys are home a lot and even with a sitter here, they still want me to do things for them and they climb all over me and are in bed with me all.day.long.

I get so jealous when girls talk about napping, reading books, watching movies, etc......for me it is the exact opposite. Basically I am prisoner of my house with no breaks from my kids. I love them, but I need some time "off" and I do not feel like I have gotten that :(

    GL!

so far, I've made all the decorations for my baby shower, made lists of things i need from the grocery store (in the correct order according to aisles in the store LOL)  Read a couple of books, and watch movies on our wii with netflix! And sometimes when it's nice outside, I go out and Lay on our swing (we have a convertible swing...goes from couch form to bed) Just to get some fresh air and catch some rays LOL..
