There's a post on another board from a mom whose newborn doesn't like being "worn". Instead of saying, that's okay, some babies don't like it, there's this suggestion to keep moving all day long, even instead of sitting on the couch bounce on an exercise ball! Some babies really really hate it. And that's perfectly fine! Maile hated being worn in any carrier. IDK. It's just one of those ridiculous things that parents force their child to do to please themselves, I guess. I was probably like that with my first 2. By M I realized that she hated cosleeping and hated being held or worn and that didn't mean I failed as a mother. It meant I had to let her do what she wanted to do instead of holding onto these ideals that I wanted, you know?
Or I've just had too much wine.
Re: something about this annoys me
Well, you can't be a breastfeeding, cosleeping, babywearing holier than thou AP mama if your baby refuses to be WORN, dammit!
It took me 2 weeks of nightly screaming sessions to determine that K hated sleep sacks with the passion of 1000 suns.

I hear you!
DS is so different from DD. One fussy newborn evening I was trying all the "tricks" that I used to try with DD and he was still wailing. I put him in the bouncy so I could go to the bathroom or help DD with something and he zonked out.
To this day he hates to fall asleep in any other way besides being put down and left alone.
what the knittyb*tch said. minus the sleep sacks. :-)
Please, Lari, can you change your SN to "knittyb*tch" ?
Awesome.

Ditto Lari.
I took me a couple of weeks of N screaming to figure out he just hated his carseat. He just had to scream in the car however I didn't make him sit in when we went in store or other places. He was worn & he loved that. I didn't ever wear DD. She never liked to be confined, even now she is a WILD sleeper.

People on that board are obsessed with wrapping and carriers lately.
DD did not like to be worn, either, so we didn't do it. Of all the things I've found to worry about during my limited parenthood experience, that sure wasn't a big one.
The babywearing obsession is annoying, and I was a babywearer. I've seen posts from them saying they're broke but need yet another $200 wrap. Surely one is enough. I can think of a few that would just force their child to be worn because they want them to.
God gave me Maile to make me STFU. And I'm glad. She hated being worn, co sleeping, and breastfeeding.

Ha! This is what I say about DD. If I had an "easy" baby I would totally think I had everything figured out...but she wasted no time in showing me I have no clue.
I like that board for the most part, but enough with the wraps already. I know exactly what you mean.
This has been my argument with AP all along.
Most that follow AP go against the very principle of AP - which is to be BABY LED.
They jam BF'ing, baby wearing, cosleeping down the kids throat at all costs and don't stop to think that maybe, just maybe, little Johnny wants to sleep in his ownfucking bed! LOL
Halle F'ing Luja....this has ALWAYS been my issue with AP..and GHM I find this post deliciously ironic coming from you I must say. Thank G you seem to have seen the light!!!
FTR, I'm a HUGE GHM fan! I think she is amazing, has grown so much over the years here and is pretty much an amazing mom!
Ok, just felt I needed to add that!
