  • I need to go back to my doc, if this round doesn't work. But, she didn't say anything about going durring the actual cycle itself. Which now is worrying me a little, because you are not the first person to ask me that!!
  • Nice to 'meet' you, hope this is your cycle.

You should be worried!   Please ask for mid-cycle monitoring and beginning cycle monitoring by vaginal ultrasound.  It is important to make sure you are not at-risk for mulitples (triplets or more) or for dangerous cysts.

  • nice to "meet" you too AKB!

Chicago..good deal! I go back next week, I will speak with the oBGYN. i think my problem was that this was the Nurse Practioner that i was seeing for this. I am going to call and make appt with the OBGYN... THANK YOU!!!

  • Yes please make sure they are monitoring you mid-cycle and if they wont do that I would not take the clomid and seek out an RE instead of your OBGYN.  Good luck and I hope your OBGYN can help you more.

I'm glad you will talk to your OB about it, but a lot of OBs are not as knowledgable about clomid as they should be.  Their focus is on preganant women, not infertiles.  Your OB might be reluctant to help you with monitoring.  That's one of the many reasons that many of us go directly to a reproductive endocrinologist, which is the kind of doctor that specializes in getting women pregnant.  My OB, for example, told me that my Dh's semen analysis was borderline, and I found out 6 months later that it was way below normal.

  • Also, your husband should have had a semen analysis and you should have had an HSG test before starting clomid.  You are only suppsoed to take clomid 6 times in your life max.  That's why it's important to make sure you have good tubes and good sperm before you even start it.

  • hhmm... I know a few friends that were prescribed clomid by their obgyn. they took lots and lots of blood from me, did all sorts of different tests also. they new i had pcos, they have also spoke to endocronologist. So i don't know if that makes a difference? They did say that if this round of clomid doesn't work, that we will figure out what to do from there and that i will prob have to go see a specialist. I will go back next week anyway, and i will play it by ear. i will see what they say about the ultrasounds etc...

No, it doesn't make a difference. You should always be monitored while on clomid. And you should always make sure your tubes are clear and the sperm is good first.

    Great advice Chicago!

Being monitored is VERY important while taking any fertility medication.  Please go to a RE if your OBGYN doesn't want to monitor you.  Good luck!

  • Welcome to the board.  Please make sure you are being monitored mid-cycle while on clomid.  If YH has not had a SA done, have your doc script for that.  No point in maxing out your clomid if YH has issues.
