has anyone dropped yet

I feel like my daughter is sitting so high up - at my appointment last week, the midwife said she is up in my ribs.  Well, I really want her to start making her way down from the rafters. Anyone lucky enough to get there yet

Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

Re: has anyone dropped yet

  • Nope. My girl is still sitting very high as well. I'm not sure when babies generally drop, but I will take it because breathing has become a serious challenge these days.

  • Nope, but don't feel bad, at my childbirth class the instructor/nurse said that sometimes babies don't drop until right before you go into labor. Mine is kicking my ribs, too, so I feel your pain :P

I've been feeling more pressure down there, but I have a dr. appt this afternoon so I'm curious to see if the doctor says anything about her position.

  • Nope, my doctor was surprised at 32 weeks how high I was carrying still. I thought I still had a while to drop...

Baby likes to play with my ribs. I can often see a body part of some sort on the outside of my rib cage. Although it would be nice to breath easier, I know I will have horrid hip and back pain once LO drops, so I am ok with the baby staying high :)

  • Nope, but I have a long kid I think.  At my appt. yesterday the doc pointed out where his head, back and legs were and his head was pretty low and his legs were in my ribs, which didn't surprise me.

It won't surprise me either if he's tall.  I'm 5'9, my brother is 6'4", my grandma was 5'11" before she started shrinking, etc. so height is not a foreign concept to my family!  DHs family on the other hand... totally different story!

  • The doctor hasn't said so, but I've had a few people tell me that I look like I've dropped.  I feel like I have since it has been a little easier to breath lately, but I have no real proof that this is the case. Wink
  • I don't know if she has technically dropped but at my last appointment my doctor said that her head was very low in my pelvis. I was just glad she was head down, since she was breech for the longest time.

I thought I read most babies drop closer to 37-38 weeks but I could be wrong.

  • Nope.  I found out yesterday at my OB appointment that what I thought was the little guy's butt resting under my right boob is actually his head!  At my last sono on 3/18 he was head down, but the acrobat manged to flip since then.  My Dr. feels there is enough time for him to go back.

  • I thought they didn't drop until a week or two before labor? Not ready for that yet!

  • I haven't but I think I'm already carrying pretty low.  I can't imagine how he could get much lower without engaging.  His head is sitting just about on top of my pubic bone.  That said, he can still give me a good swift kick to the ribs!

This.  I am carrying so much lower this time and it was making me nervous.  My doctor said yesterday that the baby is still where he should be.  I really hope that I don't drop until right before labor, because I feel like I will just topple over.

  • Not at all.  I type this as I stare at her little butt waaay up in my rib cage and feel her little feet slithering across my bra line!

  • I think I have. She had been right up in my ribs for a while and then earlier this week she shifted much lower.  I can breathe better, but now I have a lot of internal pelvic pressure.  At the midwife the other day, she made a comment about her head being way down there.
  • I have... in fact, I went in the dr Tuesday afternoon because I felt like he was going to fall out, extreme amounts of pressure in my butt... I am a little dilated, and his head is directly on my cervix, which explains  the pressure and my extreme waddling and how uncomfortable it is to sit with my legs closed.
  • My guy has. I didn't really notice an improvement in my breathing capacity, or any more pevlic symptoms, but someone told me Monday I looked like I dropped, and the OB yesterday confirmed he's way down low.

I was just happy to confirm he was head down!

  • A few people have told me I've dropped, but I have been carrying low to begin with.  I don't see a difference, yet.  And I'm with gym... dropped or carrying low, doesn't seem to stop him from jabbing me in the ribs.

  • I dropped a little and then baby girl moved right back up.  She was head down a few weeks ago and then flipped.  She is now high but head down.  We shall see if she stays that way.  I am not counting on anything with her at this point.

  • I dropped about a week ago, which makes my bladder so uncomfy.

  • My NP mentioned at my appointment today that baby has dropped a little. I can't tell myself.

  • I haven't and I'm not too eager for it to happen either -- uncomfortable as the rib kicks are, I think the pelvic pressure would be worse.  I really hate the pressure I feel when I need to use the bathroom, so if that was a constant feeling, I would be really unhappy!
