Re: Please rate my NB stash

  • Well I can't really rate your stash as I am starting one as well, but you have a lot of stuff! Where did you get your wetbags? When did you start your stash?
  • I had read on this board and was told by a friend to try and get different things because you don't know what will work for you or LO, so I really tried to get a different combination of CD's.  I also got everything at different places...  I checked jilliansdrawers.com, nickisdiapers.com, kellyscloset.com, craig's list, and ebay for deals.  I ended up getting my webags off Nicki's Diapers because they were having a sale and free shipping on Planet Wise bags a couple weeks ago.  Most of the Thirsties I got from a local CD shop when I was initially doing research and was given a couple at my baby shower because I had them on my Amazon registry.  I really have no idea when I started my stash, maybe around 20wks?  I definitely took my time and bought them here and there.  I'm still super new to all of this but I hope I have a good start!

  • I can't really rate it either as I am working on my own for my 1st LO. But, your stash looks pretty good to me.

I've started stocking up here and there and started at about 12 weeks (currently have 6 fitteds, 5 covers, 3 AIO, and 1 pail liner). I have been trying to wait until the anatomy scan (tomorrow Big Smile) to purchase more since I want to know if I should get really *girly* CD's or not. DH knows that I plan to buy *at least*  one pink CD tomorrow if it's a girl!

  • Two comments: first- I have 36 wipes and am glad I do. I got mine from a WAHM on Etsy but you could just use baby washcloths or cut up a receiving blanket or two. Second- I would suggest getting some fleece liners to have on hand, just in case. My DD ended up developing a rash because she was sensitive to wetness from the prefolds and fitteds. The fleece liners will help your babies skin feel more dry. To go along with that- I know you said you already had CD safe cream but I just got a couple CJ's BUTTer sticks and I *love* how convenient they are to use with every change.

  • Do you know anything about making your own fleece liners? I was going to just buy some fleece from a fabric store and start cutting.. These would just go on top of the prefolds, is that correct?

Thanks for your input!  The cream I have actually is CJ's!  I don't have any real reason to use it on anything yet but got the sample pack and they all smell so yummy!  If it wasn't for this board I would've never known about it.  Big Smile

I've actually not done it myself yet, my DD is only a few weeks old and we have a diverse enough stash I've been avoiding the prefolds except for quick diapers in between bath and bed. From what I've read it is as simple as that. I do believe you want to make sure you get microfleece as opposed to polar fleece though.

I started with a few samples too- when you reorder try the sticks! I didn't know if I'd like the way they work- seemed like it would be awkward and difficult to apply in a small area- but it's not. It makes it so easy to apply quickly with every change without having to worry about dirty fingers while you're finishing getting the diaper on. Plus my DH is much more comfortable using it as opposed to the cream you have to apply by hand. Good luck when your LO gets here!
