The Army is breaking my heart (vent)

A week and a half before we are supposed to leave for California they tell DH that his leave is denied.  

I don't know what I'm going to do.  We can't do this without DH, we just can't!  He's going to miss out on enough over the years with trainings and deployments, that it's not fair for him to miss out on stuff while he is actually here!  And to add insult to injury, when SSG told him leave was denied he said "It's not like she's going to remember it anyway."  When my husband explained that it was about the whole family and being together, and that I had already made all these plans and hired a professional photographer he then said "Well I think that's stupid."

I DIDN'T ASK FOR YOUR OPINION ON MY PLANS FOR MY DAUGHTERS FIRST BIRTHDAY, JERK!!!

wow... I'm really sorry Brynn =(   I cant believe they wont let him go to his own daughters 1st birthday party!!  Big hugs!

I am so sorry Bryn!  It does seem completely unreasonable that they denied his leave.   If he has it to take and he isn't hold up any sort of military action or training, I can't imagine why they'd say no.

This exactly!  That is total BS.  His CO sounds like a jerk, who clearly isn't a family man.  I would definitely try to appeal to a higher up.  I am so sorry!  ((Hugs))

Wow I'm sorry to hear that. First birthday's are an important celebration, whether she'll remember or not is irrelevant. And his CO sounds like an azzhole.

I'm sorry! That's tough, I bet he wanted to just punch the jerk that said that to him. Just wrong.  It shouldn't matter what your personal leave is for.  ((hugs))

I'm not going to get my hopes up, but we are trying to talk to the 1SG to see if we can appeal, or make some sort of compromise.  I told DH that I don't want SSG to think that I'm going over his head by talking to 1SG, but if I try to talk to SSG I know I would lose my cool.  His rudeness was just so unnecessary and totally hurt my feelings.

Thanks again for you support ladies!  It means a lot!

That's horrible!  Denying it is one thing (provided there's a reason), but there's NO reason for him to be such an ass about it!

That's the thing that just sucks about it - he may make it worse for himself by end gaming SSG.  Poopy poopy poopy!
