I just wanted to come over here and see how the Alabama Bumpies are doing in the aftermath of this storm. We don't have any damage in my area (Thank God). But I am devistated for those who lost their homes and loved ones. My heart is really heavy right now. I am praying for everyone who was affected.
Siggy coming soon....
Re: Is everyone ok?
We are okay. Seeing the damage just makes my heart hurt and makes me sick. It could so easily have stayed on its original path and we might not be here today. And as thankful as I am that we weren't hit, I'm so devastated for the Pleasant Grove areas that were decimated.
My husband has many friends in that area who lost lives, friends, neighbors, and homes yesterday. The little mom-and-pop place that my husband often eats lunch at was gone, and he said you could still see the bodies inside that they hadn't yet gotten to remove. So very sad and sickening.
I feel so wrong having come into work today. I feel like I should be out there doing something. This isn't even my home state, though we've been here over 4 years now, and my heart is broken.
That's exactly the way I feel. It feels weird being here today. We did have a prayer service today at work and that was very touching. There were several people who lost homes or loved ones that work here. Having us all come together as a family like this was very touching.

That's horrible! I have a friend that is going to school in Tuscaloosa and was there when it happened, he lost everything but thankfully he is fine! This is such a devestating time for our state.
That is horrible! It was so surreal to watch the tornado hit Tuscaloosa live where the newscaster was saying, "and now it look like it's hitting DCH." The destruction that hit T-town makes my heart hurt. I'm glad y'all are ok!

We are okay...and so is our entire family.
We do not have any damage...just lots of debris. The tornado broke up and became disorganized as it came into our area (Clay)....but re-formed as it got to Odenville/Ashville. I cannot stress how extremely lucky and blessed we are that it did not do more to us since it passed directly over.
The majority of our family lives in the Gardendale/Hayden/Cullman areas, so they are dealing with a lot more of this than us. Thankfully none of them experienced any major damage or injuries, but they are in those areas where resources are limited and power may not be restored for a while.
I do know a few people who completely lost everything and I also know one person who was killed.
I am glad that you are ok. Seeing the devistation in Tuscaloosa is just heartbreaking. As well as the other areas hit hard.
I am going to find a way this weekend to help out, any way I can. I do have a small pile of stuff that I was going to donate to my church's yard sale. But the storm victims need it worse right now.
Hey Everyone,
Glad that yall are ok! We live in Pickens county which is just outside of Tuscaloosa. Our town got a little damage nothing compared to Tuscaloosa. We had a tornado that went right over our house but did not touch down or damage anything. My husband is a Pastor of a church in Pickens county. We are going to take up food and water donations to help out. Does anyone know where we can take the donations to in Tuscaloosa? I went to the Alabama Baptist Disaster Relief page but their dist. sites were on the other side of Tuscaloosa.
Haven't been here in a while, just wanted to pop on and say I hoped everyone was ok. We didn't get any damage despite the 2 that passed just south of us. DH and I watched everything happen live and it just blows my mind. It was like watching a Sifi movie. DH had to go to work at 3 am yesterday and didn't get home til 7pm covering the damage for 33/40.
My thoughts to all those with friends and families affected.

We are fine...only had power outage. So very very blessed.
None of this seems real...it's just unbelievable and so terribly tragic. My heart hurts so very badly for everyone in the Southeast. Seeing the footage from ttown is particularly gut wrenching as so much of my beloved college town is going. I can't believe how many people lost their lives...it's just so very heartbreaking.
I'm so glad yall are ok! I was thinking about you when I heard the tornado hit ttown. I cannot imagine what you and everyone affected by this weather is going through.
98 TXT (radio station) has a ton of donation info listed on their website. There was a truck in the Food World parking lot on 69 south taking donations. Big Sandy Baptist Church (on Old Greensboro) is taking childrens and adults undergarments to distribute.
We were very lucky, never even lost power....the storms went north or south of us. Watched it all live on TV, and the footage now is tough to watch.
My brother's family is on Sand Mountain and could have easily had damage but were okay. Parents in Huntsville are down here with us since they have no power.
I have a classmate from undergrad who lost everything in Tuscaloosa. I feel so bad for her. I donated to her paypal though. I feel a bit useless even though I donated water and formula today. I wish I could do more.
We are fine and extremely lucky and blessed. The tornado went around our neighborhood, but demolished two different neighborhoods within a mile of us. We have some friends who lost everything. There is all kinds of destruction around us, but somehow we are one of the few areas in East Limestone that have power. I feel so blessed to have it, but guilty at the same time since most people around me do not have it. I have offered up my house for people to come take hot showers, wash clothes etc.
My heart breaks for our entire state. Never in my 30 years have I seen such destruction!
For this child I prayed, and the LORD has given me my petition which I asked of him.

Just wondering if anyone has heard from Wilma ...
As far as places to bring stuff in Tuscaloosa, there are tons of them, but some of them are filling up. You can check the site previously mentioned or www.tuscaloosanews.com. I heard most recently that the Belk Activity Center (at Bowers Park, off Hargrove) is accepting donations and in need of sanitary/hygiene items. Just about any church in the area will likely take donations, too. Hope that helps! Also, glad to hear that most everyone came through the storm OK.
Hey Ladies! Glad everyone is ok. Thinking and praying for those with damage and loss.
We just got power back at our home in Huntsville yesterday. It's nothing compared to the total devastation we saw. My sister lives in the area of Toney that was demolished. Her house is one of few still standing but with substantial structural damage. It can be fixed but is not livable at this time. Her neighborhood is wiped out. It is heartbreaking.

I'm a little late to this, but we're all ok here! We live in Toney and part of our street got completely wiped out (less than 1/4 mile from our house), but we got EXTREMELY lucky and had zero damage to our house. There was one fatality at the end of our street. We were without power for 9 days. Luckily, we know the guy who owns the gas station up the road from our house and he happened to be there on the 28th to check on the store so we were able to stock up on ice, water, a propane tank for our grill, etc.
I'm so glad that everyone is ok!
