Adoption Decree??

Our taxes and other places always ask for a adoption decree.  I have an "adoption order".  Is that the same thing?  Is the word "Decree" on your paperwork?  What if you want additional copies...where do you get them?  I should know this!  I am in CA by the way.

We got an adoption decree when we finalized DD's adoption last October. If I wanted additional copies, I'd likely either contact our agency's lawyer, or someone at our state's orphan's court.

Ours says Adoption Decree at the top. Our lawyer provided us with 2 copies of the decree.

I haven't finalized yet, so I don't have a decree.  I have placement paperwork.  I'm using that for al the benefit stuff, etc for now.

Ours says Order of Final Adoption at the top and in smaller letters Adoption Decree.

Ours says FINAL DECREE OF ADOPTION about a 1/3 way down the page.  (But I would think "order" would be the same)

We got our copy from the court house on the day of court. My understanding is to get extra "officail" copys we would go back to the court clerk.

Everyone that has asked for our decree has been more than happy to take a photo copy of the original- ie we haven't had to get additional copies (which cost money- I think I heard in ND they cost $20 per additional copy...)

I am also in CA, and ours also says "Adoption Order".  I believe it's the same thing, but like many other things, CA likes to do their own thing.  In fact, I went to social security today, because DD's amended birth certificate came yesterday, and the adoption order worked fine.  This is what was given to us by the court at finalization.
