Apparently I may be toxic. Baby A update in blog

Just got back from the doctor. My BP has sky rocketed and they feel I may be "going toxic" whatever that means. Strange as it may sound, I am actually really excited. I am hoping this means I will get to meet her soon. This waiting game has been agonizing. I honestly wouldn't care if she had to stay a couple of days in the NICU. Then I'd know she is in safe hands. I can't shake the "anything could happen still" feeling.

Just wanted to give an update. It can all be found in my blog. Link is in my siggy.

  • They used to call Pre-E "Toxemia"  so maybe that is what they mean.

My DS was born at 34 weeks (5 days..but they always just say 34 weeks) and is doing great now.  He spent 2 weeks in the NICU because he had a bit of trouble learning sucking skills.  Otherwise he was and remains perfectly healthy.  He was completly caught up to other babies his age (physically and developmentally) by 6 months.

Good luck to you and your Little One.  My thoughts will be with you!

  • They just said you may be toxic?? No explaination? That's not scary at all....

I definately get what you mean. If I was going through all you have been I would feel the same way (wanting LO out). Keeping you in my T&P's for a healthy baby A!!! Thanks for the update!

  • I just read your blog and I can understand why you would rather have her out than in at this point.  I hope they sort of the results and make a decision quickly

  • Thanks for the update! Fingers crossed that you'll get to hold Baby A soon! I totally understand you wanting her OUT even if it means a stay in the NICU. Best of luck, and keep us posted

  • Our little one was born at 32w4d and is home already (15 days in the NICU) - it sounds like 35w is usually the point at which they send babies home if they're doing everything they need to be doing. So if you have her now she's probably all good to come home soon! Good luck!

  • I'll be thinking good thoughts for you and Baby A.
  • Have you gotten the steroid shots? My daughters were born at 34w5d and did great. They were breathing room air and came home after 10 days. I hope you little baby A can keep cooking, but I can't imagine how agonizing this wait has been for you and I don't blame you for wanting to hold her safe and sound in your arms.

  • Oh no!!  That sounds like the beginnings of Pre-eclampsia/toxemia.  I hope it's not!!  Good luck and keep us posted.

  • I'm sure it's scary, but at almost 35 weeks, I bet your sweet little girl is pretty ready to meet you too.  I hope you both stay healthy and she is in your arms in no time.  Sending T&Ps your way.
  • Lots of prayers and positive thoughts for you and your LO. Stay strong!
  • I think I would feel the same way you do...just take her already.  I will pray that you get to meet baby A as soon as possible and that you are both healthy when she comes.  Your blog is very sweet and I admire the way you have handled your loss.

  • yeah. Sounds like they are thinking pre-e. This is what I'm being monitored for too :/

Hopefully your BP and protein stays lower so you can bake her for just a bit longer. If not though, she will be just fine!

    Good luck with everything!

  • I'm sure you have great care & I'm hoping everything will go beautifully for you & Baby!

  • i wish they would get rid of the term "toxemia" - it sounds so awful! Pre-e sounds a lot nicer, haha. Sending you T&Ps for good health for you & baby A!

  • Good luck to you!  I know what you mean about being ready so she is in safe hands.  I hope this isn't too horrible to say, especially from a relative "lurker" but a friend of mine had very similar circumstances to you where she lost one of her twins, but didn't deliver until weeks later.  The reason they delivered was because her body had started "rejecting" the baby that she had lost, and it had caused the conditions for her baby girl to go downhill so they decided to deliver.  I believe she had used the term toxic as well.

Her little girl was a lot earlier than yours, and is now a strong and thriving 2 year old.  I hope to see an update soon that you have that baby girl in your arms!
