As I was taking the library of books that Ella had squirrelled away in her bed and putting them back on her bookshelf, I was wondering...
How do you organize/arrange kids books? By size? Author? Type (board, hardback, etc)?
How about your own books?
I love the bookshelves that are arranged by color, it makes me happy to look at them. But, I think I would go crazy if a book in a series was not with the rest of the books in a series. Same with books by the author.
Re: Kinda br - How do you organize books?
Max's bookshelf has board books on the top shelf since it's the shortest, then books we read now on the middle shelf, and books for when he's a little older on the bottom. Chapter books for when he's even older are stored away for now.
Our books, I group series together and try to sort of group in categories...travel, etc. We just did a massive purge and trip to Half Price though so we don't have nearly as many books in the house. Which we had to do to make room, but it was still sad. Sigh.

Ditto this for now, but I really want display bookshelves so he can more easily choose what he wants.
Now OUR books are displayed by category - literature, sci fi, foreign language, political science, business, travel, cooking, outdoor recreation, etc., and then alphabetical by author name within each category. DH thinks I'm nuts.
I'm going to make an AWESOME big brother.
