Acadia, Cobscook, and Wolfe's Neck for outdoor stuff; Portland and Freeport if you want an urban experience. There is so much beautiful stuff to see here.

The Midcoast area, definitely.  Rockland, Camden, Bar Harbor, etc.  Come in late summer and you'll catch a lot of the festivals, but anytime it's warm out there's a lot for families to do!
