3. Share your proposal story long day at school I came home and wanted to go to bed- but MH gave me a heart shaped clay bowl he made full of candy. (he does ceramics) .  I thought it was sweet, and then tried to go to bed but he insisted I try the candy.  Ring was at the bottom.  We were laying on the couch- I was in my scrubs and it was perfect.  

4. How do you celebrate your anniversary?  trip? dinner? we've gone on local trips- to the beach, etc, sometimes stay the night at a b&b, or just cook a nice dinner at home.

Share your proposal story My mom passed away a few years ago, we were very close, and it totally changed my life, well my DH was my rock throughout that horrible time, and he knew how important my mom was in my life, so when he proposed, he proposed at her grave, so she'd be the first to know   We always had an inside joke everytime we went to the cemetary that one day my mom was gonna drop a brick on his head because he didn't propose yet, so one ordinary day when we were there, all of a sudden he yelled "OWWW" and i was like WTF?? he's like, i think you're mom hit me, and i was so confused, but then he got down on his knees, and said the sweetest things, and proposed to me right there, it was so special, even though she's not with me, that she was still the first to know  love my DH

4. How do you celebrate your anniversary?  trip? dinner?  we celebrated our dating anniversary by going out to a wine bar, and every year on our proposal anniversary he sends me something to work; edible arrangements or something like that....we will be having our 1st wedding anniv. in may, i'm hoping he's got something planned, i keep saying i want to go to the beach lol

1. how long have you and DH been together? We met in the fall of 2005 so this fall will be 6 years.

2. How long have you and DH been married? We were married in August of 2007 so this August will be 4 years.

3. Share your proposal story He proposed on the beach in South Carolina. I was still living in MN and was down to NC for spring break and we went to the beach for the weekend. We were walking along the beach and he stopped a couple to take our picture but told them he was going to propose so they got pictures of the whole thing! And the cool part was that they were there celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary.

4. How do you celebrate your anniversary?  trip? dinner? Usually just dinner. DH is always super busy that time of the year with big recruiting trips and getting ready for fall ball to start/his freshman to move into the dorms.

3. Share your proposal story
We had a New Years party at our new house that year. I was really excited because it was also the anniversary of our first date and first kiss (which was a new years kiss). We had agreed to exchange a small annivesary gift (cards) at midnight to celebrate. So about 5min before midnight, he and I headed to our room where it was a little quieter. I remember thinking that it was odd that our bedroom door was closed. When we walked into the room it was filled with white candles of every size and red rose petals covered every surface. It was so beautiful. He was already down on one knee with a card in his hand. After the sweet message he had written inside, I noticed that he had attached my dream engagement ring to the card. I was shaking at this point. Then he asked me the all-important question, while I was processing everything I could hear the people in the house counting down, 5,4,3,2,1...and I said yes! Apparently everyone at the party - except me - knew that this was happening because when we left the room they all congratulated us.

4. How do you celebrate your anniversary?  trip? dinner? We always go to the beach. In the past, we've gone to Destin, FL. But since our family just bought a condo in Panama City, FL we'll be going there for now on. We have a 10 day stay planned for this year's trip. We usually wouldn't stay that long, but since it's mostly free now...yay!

3. Share your proposal story:  We went to Tahoe for my birthday and he gave me a jewelry cleaner...a few hours later when we were getting ready to leave for dinner he said I also got you something that will need to be cleaned and then he got down on his knee and asked me to marry him.

4. How do you celebrate your anniversary?  trip? dinner?  We have always gone on some sort of trip, at least a weekend away.  I am not sure we will be able to afford it this year though so we might just do a nice dinner.

1. how long have you and DH been together? We met in late 1994, freshmen in high school debate class. We hated each other for a couple of years, became friends our junior year, and started dating our senior year: October 5th, 1997. A couple for just over 13 years, friends for 14.

3. Share your proposal story We are the couple that DH's family points to when the guy starts dragging his heels. We are a cautionary tale!

We'd been dating for about four and a half years- waiting to "grow up" to some extent but it became obvious over those years that we were a very good fit and both of our families expected a wedding soon. We'd talked about getting married for over a year, agreed that it would happen "someday", had been living together for almost a year, but DH was scared to commit. He decided just before we went on a week long vacation that he would get back from vacation and start saving and ask me a couple of months later.

 We were enjoying an early morning sunrise over the mountains while on that vacation. He was reading a newspaper and I was eating breakfast in bed when I leaned over, put my head on his shoulder and asked him to marry me. I got tired of waiting. We bought the ring with the leftover vacation budget and went home to tell our families. DH was embarrassed for a while, but it's since turned into one of those great relationship stories. He never had to worry about me saying no- I was so yes, I asked first!

4. How do you celebrate your anniversary?  trip? dinner? The entire country blows up fireworks to celebrate our anniversary. We usually stay up past midnight on the 4th of July and share a glass of wine to celebrate our anniversary on the 5th to the sound of fireworks. We've never really felt the need to do more than that though.

3. Share your proposal story H and I went to college together, and we were walking around campus when we came to the place we first met.  He knelt down and proposed right there.

4. How do you celebrate your anniversary?  trip? dinner? We usually make dinner or go out somewhere, pretty low key.  We always make a toast out of our wedding champagne flutes, and I like to write the past year's memories in our anniversary memory book.

3. Share your proposal story: I knew he was going to propose for weeks before hand, and it was driving me nuts waiting for him to do it. At the time we were house hunting. We drove to work seperately that day, but got to our apartment parking lot after at the same time around midnight. I got out of my car and said "Hey I have a good idea...(was gonna say let's go drive by through the neighborhoods of the houses we are looking at tomorrow)" But DH cut me off and said "I bet I have a better idea" I started mockingly saying "Oh yea, what? What is it?" then Dh went to his trunk and pulled out a little black box and started walking towards me. Keep in mind this whole time we are standing in a gravel parking lot with no street lights so it is pitch black. As soon as I saw what he was carrying I blacked out. To this day I have no clue what he said to me when he proposed. I just remember finally focusing in to him saying "so will you marry me?" to which I started crying and said yes and hugged and kissed him, then I sprinted the two blocks into our apartment building so I could see the ring and call my whole family in the middle of the night.

4. How do you celebrate your anniversary?  trip? dinner? We usually get dressed up and go to dinner.

3. Share your proposal story - Short Story: We went to Las Vegas, Dh tried to propose all week (top of the Eiffel Tower, at the Grand Canyon, top of the Stratosphere - nothing was perfect), so he finally proposed at dinner the night before we left...it was sweet!

4. How do you celebrate your anniversary?  trip? Yes, we always try to go somewhere. We have been to Italy, Charleston, Montreal and this year we are going to Lake Placiddinner? Yes, we always go to the restaurant we went to for our first date.

1. how long have you and DH been together? Met on Match.com in Dec 2004.  First date in Jan 2005.

2. How long have you and DH been married? Married June 16, 2007, so 3 years, 10 months and counting.

3. Share your proposal story. We went on a cruise together in Nov 2005... Key West was one of the stops and we both loved it.  In July 2006, we planned a vacation to Key West.  We went for a romantic dinner at a nice restaurant.  After dinner, we went for a walk and talked.... apparently, he says I went on and on about seeing broken beer bottles.  He proposed on a pier at the end of Duval Street. 

4. How do you celebrate your anniversary?  trip? dinner?  We usually go on vacation and dinner.  Last year, we went to Kauai and Oahu for our 3rd anniversary.  One year was Orlando.  This year, we don't have any trips planned because of IVF, him getting a new job in a new city, and me leaving my old job.... not sure yet how finances will shake out, so no trips planned yet this year... hopefully a small trip.  But I know we'll go out to dinner.

3. Share your proposal story He took me to a nice restaurant that had an upstairs overlooking the entire place, which he reserved all to ourselves. We had a lovely dinner being all lovey dovey and I assumed he was going to propose and even asked him but he denied it, even stood up to show me his empty pockets. There was a wall of windows behind him and as the sun was setting, I told him to go track down the waiter so we could pay so he stood up and walked around the table. He got down on one knee and proposed, we both cried.

4. How do you celebrate your anniversary?  trip? dinner? We did trips until IF came up, now we just do dinner and gifts.

4. How do you celebrate your anniversary?  trip? dinner? Our anniversary falls at/around Memorial Day so we've tried to take/plan to take at least weekend getaways for our anniversaries.

He proposed when we were on a vacation in Charlottesville VA on a trip for camp Jeep, I had no idea it was coming - we were driving thru the Blue Ridge Mountains and I got out to take a picture (shocking, I know) i turn around and he goes look what I found, i saw it sparkle and thought at first oh crap that sucks someone lost their diamond. Then he got down on one knee and he was so nervous and said "will you make me the happiest man in the world and marry me" i said are you serious. then i said yes. i couldnt believe it. went out to this nice resturant for dinner and I couldtn drink becuase I wasnt 21 yet!

4. How do you celebrate your anniversary?  trip? dinner?  We have done lots of different things - dinners usually, mostly he is working, but he always sends me flowers.

3. Share your proposal story: He did a scavanger hunt. It started w/ my bestfriend at the time giving me a rose and a clue before my first class for the day. It was so hard staying at school knowing what the day was going to hold. I had about seven friends give me clues throughts that day and the last clue sent me to the park where he proposed and we watched the sun set. It was an amazing day!

4. How do you celebrate your anniversary?  trip? dinner? For the frist two or three years we went to the beach the week of our anniversary. For our five year we went on a cruise and for the others we've just done dinner.

I was getting ready to leave for a trip with my mom to see my family and he said he wanted to have a picnic for our last night together.  We picked up takeout for dinner and went to a garden club on the intercoastal that had a gazebo by the water.  When we got there, there was rose petals leading down the path, and a table set up with a white tablecloth and rose centerpiece.  We had our dinner and wine, and then he gave me a "going-away" card.  I opened it and it said "You're Engaged!" and I looked up and he was down on one knee, proposing.  It was so great.  And we ended up getting married at the garden club, so our ceremony was in the gazebo where we got engaged!

4. How do you celebrate your anniversary?  trip? dinner?  We have done different things...since it's in the summer we always have a trip around our anniversary to the beach or something, and if we're home on the actual day we will make dinner or go out somewhere.

DH just proposed at home the day before we left for Paris.  It was really nice and my family had a little engagement party for us right when we came back.

Last year for our wedding anniversary, we went to Vegas and went to a Phillies game with our names up on the board.  This year we probably won't do anything other than just dinner.

3. Share your proposal story  It was NYE and I went out to brunch with my girlfriend who had just got engaged over Christmas.  So, we spent a couple of hours dishing about her proposal and engagement.  MH had told me he was going to brunch with his friends.  On my way home from brunch I called my mom to share the good news for my friend.  I almost said to her, "Guess who is engaged?" b/c I knew she had been waiting for MH & I to get engaged.  But, I thought that would be too mean.  When I got home, MH was all dressed up and I immediately thought he had to go to a wake (I have no idea why I thought this).  Then he proposed!  Turns out he hadn't gone to brunch with a friend but to my parents house to ask for their blessing.  I'm glad I didn't joke about "Guess who got engaged" b/c my mom would have inadvertently ruined the surprise!

4. How do you celebrate your anniversary?  trip? dinner?  Okay, after reading all of the other responses, we are pretty pathetic in this department.  We don't really do anything.  MH tries to make it home so we can have dinner on our anniversary.  We always say we'll go out to eat to a nice dinner, but never end up doing it!  Maybe we'll make a change this year!

3. Share your proposal story DH proposed at my Dad's surprise 50th birthday party. He wrote a really sweet message in a card and had my Dad give me the box with my ring in it.

4. How do you celebrate your anniversary?  trip? dinner? This year we just hung out at home and cooked dinner. Next year we are planning on taking doing some sort of trip.

3. Share your proposal story He surprised me at school while I was teaching (1st graders). He walked in a dropped to a knee. He got our librarian to be in there to take pictures. Our first kiss as an engaged couple was "ewwwww"ed by a bunch of six year olds!

4. How do you celebrate your anniversary?  trip? dinner? We got married 4th of July weekend and since then all our friends seem to think its the best weekend ever to get married so we have been in 3 weddings since then. This year we leave for a wedding the day after our anniversary so we'll probably do dinner.

3. Share your proposal story. DH proposed on 5/6/07, in our kitchen at our house. It wasn't what he had planned, but that's a long story, and we ended up with a really cool date to remember our engagement with.

4. How do you celebrate your anniversary?  trip? dinner? We usually take a trip for our anniversary. Last year we went up to Glen Arbor, MI (sleeping bear dunes) and stayed at a fancy winery B&B for 3 days. This year, we're going to Chicago, which is where we went on our mini-honeymoon.
