I was on another board and there was a discussion about music in the car. Someone had overheard a child singing a Katy Perry song... Which leads to my question......
What do you listen to in the car when your child is on board too?

I have 1 child type CD in my car... It's a YO GABBA GABBA tv show soundtrack. Otherwise, it's music I enjoy. DD gets a variety of pop, hip hop and rock music. edited if it's radio, unedited if it's on my iPod or CD.

The Yo Gabba Gabba soundtrack, The Backyardigans soundtrack, Justin Roberts, Captain Bogg & Salty (Emphatical Piratical album). My car has a USB port and I have a thumb drive loaded with music.
Otherwise, random from my iPhone...and I typically only do that when I'm in "a mood" and need something like Dixie Chicks, Ashley Simpson, or Britney girl-power music. Don't judge me
What ever is on the radio or DH has in the CD player. If there are F-bombs we usually skip. But we've talked enough with DC about some singers saying naughty words he knows not to repeat them. He sings along, but hums any words that raise an eyebrow.
A mix of "my" music and DSs music. I listen to a variety of Bay Area stations. Funny thing... DS seems to respond/react most to 70's disco music. That cracks me up!!!

I listen to a variety of music like 90s, heavy metal, hair bands, old school rap, Beatles. LO is going to have quite a variety of music to learn although I may have to skip some songs once LO understands certain language.
I rarely listen to kids music. I listen to stuff like The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Ryan Adams, Ray Lamontagne. And then a bunch of other random stuff from oldies to classical.
One kids album that I do love is Ziggy Marley's Family Time.
LOL that would be h .. dd's developed a taste for death/speed metal thanks to her daddie
i don't censor what i listen to in the car w/ dd .. might explain why as a 6 month old U2's (If I Don't Go) Crazy Tonight would quell a screaming fit in the car in a nanosecond. She fell asleep on the way back from easter dinner in sacto to AC/DC's Back in Black cd

When they're in the car, NPR. Otherwise, it's either NPR, Podcasts, and if either of those don't appeal to me, I'd go to music stations, but those are usually last resort.
When it's just me, I listen to books on tape. When I'm driving my students, I'll either put on a top 40 music station (like KLLC) and switch when certain songs come on, or I will play requests on my phone. At work, I have a kid friendly mix of pop/rock/folk music that we listen to. I've gone through all the songs many times to make sure it's ok. My kids LOVE Katy Perry and Lady GaGa, but we only listen to a few of their songs like Telephone or Firework. Once, they started singing Alejandro at the playground and I was like, "hmmm, this song is not so appropriate!"

mostly top 40 stuff, but some hip hop and rock. We have XM radio too so it's not edited *gasp*
Natalie sings along to the songs, it doesn't bother me.
99.9% of the time NPR.
