We hung shirts, rompers and outfit type onesies in the closet.
We put pants, pajama stuff (sleep and plays, gowns, etc) and under shirt type onesies (plain white and anything that will probably be used for hanging arund the house vs, going out) in dresser drawers.
I put the shoes in a small canvas bin on a shelf in the closet.
I told myself it all fit that way so it was OK for now, at least it wasn't sitting in a big pile on the glider anymore. I figure when he gets here I will see how it works logistically day to day and change it up if necessary.
I have three drawers and a single-width (but extra deep) closet
On top of dresser- change pad and little bins with: some socks, hats, shoes that currently fit/are close, and bibs/burp cloths.
Top drawer- diaper stuff
Middle drawer- 0-6month onesies and 0-6 month pants (the hangers I chose don't work for pants). A little sock bin.
Bottom drawer- bath supplies, extra diaper stuff etc.
Closet- 2 racks of hanging clothes. 0-12 month sleepers, shirts, sweaters etc with smaller sizes in front and bigger sizes in back (will rotate little clothes out and more sizes in). 3 shelves- pack and play on bottom shelf (when put away), bin of 6-12 month onesies and pants on middle shelf and bin of receiving blankets on top shelf.
I also have boxes in the storage room in our basement of 18month-3year second-hand clothes that we have been given. Once I'm up to like 6-9 months, I'll get this stuff ready in the closet in the storage bin on the middle shelf.
We keep everything in a drawer. He doesn't really have dress clothes. I do have some things that he doesn't fitting into yet hanging, but only because they came on hangers and I haven't washed them yet. I have grouped everything by size for now, each drawer holds a different siZe. The top drawer holds his socks and onesies.
I hang all the outfits and if an outfit has matching pants or
shorts I clip them on the hanger under the top. On the right, the plastic bins have towels, washcloths, and bath items and the two brown bins are for blankets. The little ones have rattles, teethers, toy clips and links, etc.
The top shelf has
smaller baskets for bibs and hats. The large basket is for the Moby,
SwaddleMe wraps, and Boppy covers. The second shelf has bins for
receiving blankets, cloth diapers/burp rags, shorts/pants, pajamas, gowns and sleep sacks.
The bigger bins have sheets, sweaters, sweatshirts and jackets, toys, books, etc
I organized onsies and their matching pants in a dresser drawer with these from Target:
Each row is the perfect size to hold 5 folded onesies and 2 pairs of matching pants. I also have his socks in the dresser in an office type box with little dividers

I have a walk-in closet for LO and have almost everything hung up. Basic onesies and pants are in dresser drawers (the dresser is sitting in the closet), but even cutesy onesies are hung up. I have a basket with socks, then hats and bibs in a drawer. I just like clothes hung up personally. I'm bad about washing clothes, putting them in the drawer then taking out what's on top still, so I'd probably never use all of his clothes if I put them all in drawers lol! I do have sleep gowns and sleep sacks in a drawer as well. If I didn't have such a big closet I would have used more dresser space.
sock and shoes (which are only worn indoors at day care at this point) are in 1 drawer. onesies, t-shirts, sweats and pjs/sleepers all go in drawers. Sweaters, shirts, chinos, jeans are on hangers. I keep my top 3 drawers active for the current size he is in and the bottom 2 have items that I for future sizes. So far I have been able to buy a size or 2 up without a problem because my son is about 50% in weight and I've figured out which brands are true to size. The only challenge is the length sometimes because he is very tall.
I also have a 2 drawer changing table/dresser where I put his linens bibs and burp cloths. It works well for us because my son has space in my closet and we are space constrained.
thanks for the replies and suggestions the pics were very helpful too. Anyone else want to share pics of the bins your using and what's in them? I"m a visual person so that greatly helps.

This is the system for now for our tiny nursery.
