Sell or Trash Crib??

Hey ladies, I haven't been around much b/c things have been crazy busy!  DD is now sleeping in a toddler bed so we no longer need our crib.  It is in great shape but it is a drop down crib.  What do you think I should do?  I really hate to trash it b/c it is in great shape but with them banning the sale of the cribs I was wondering what you thought?  It has not been recalled ever either.  Thanks!
Our kids are 19mths apart and we LOVE it!!

Re: Sell or Trash Crib??

  • If it hasn't been recalled, I'd post it on CL.

For us, we'll be trashing B's crib.  2 recalls is too many for me to want to try to sell it in good faith.

  • Leah's crib was recalled and we bought the tool to make it a non-dropside crib. However, we are planning to trash it before we have another baby. I just don't trust it enough. Plus, the recall kit to make it a non-dropside makes it look kind of trashy, anyway.

  • We trashed Noah's drop-side crib.  It had never been recalled, but I just wasn't comfortable using it for #2.  I thought about trying to sell it, but I figured if people were as cautious as I was about it, then it most likely wouldn't sell anyways.

Also there are new guidelines starting in June that basically says all cribs manufactured before June do not meet these new rules.  So basically all cribs in existance right now aren't don't meet these new standards.  That might make it harder to sell as well.

  • You could put it on Craigslist, as long as you state that it is a dropside.  I would just put it in the Free section, I am sure someone would love to have it.
