it was my co-worker's bday today and we all took her out to lunch. i was running late so one of my co-worker's ordered my usual...tuna melt. when i got to the table the tuna melt arrived that second. I couldnt say anything. my husband and i decided we would wait until i am 12 weeks (7 wks today) and then spread the news. My co-workers are very noisy and I know they would have questioned me if I declined the melt. UGH I feel guilt for eating it. I should have said I wasnt hungry. Do u think it is bad that I ate it?? Oh I hope I didnt do any harm to the baby.
Re: oh i just ate a tuna melt sandwich...is that really bad???

it's fine you shouldn't worry...worrying is bad...just as long as you don't eat tuna constantly...I think, although my mom says she's eaten tuna all throughout her pregnancies and we turned out okay..
Hope I helped...baby dust to you and all our fellow mommies
Thanks for the response. And sorry for the spelling error (ate not eat). Not only am I nervous and over thinking everything, I am having problems spelling and putting sentences together. Tx again

You should cut back on Tuna, because it has relatively high amounts of mercury, but you don't have to cut it out 100% the entire pregnancy.
Don't freak out. Just try to stick to low-mercury seafood in the future (tilapia and salmon are highly recommended). You can also have deli turkey as long as it is well heated (should be steaming hot) in your sandwich.

The only tuna that's generally not recommended for pregnant women is bluefin, and the chances your tuna melt was made with bluefin is pretty much non-existant.
