Trying to Get Pregnant

cervical position open/close?

Hi ladies,

I've been reading up on checking cervical position so I can start tracking it daily.  For those of you who do this, how can you tell if the cervix is opened or closed?  This may be a silly question, but I'm just curious.  Any info would be great.

 Thanks in advance.

Re: cervical position open/close?

  • thanks for asking ths. I have tried googling it, but am coming up with nothing, so I don't check position. :(

  • You can actually kind of push it open; it will be a bit more flexible. When it is closed, it won't budge.

This - the only thing I've found when googling are pictures - which obviously do not help us!

  • Not sure if this is right, because I can't reach mine....

But when I check my patients a closed cervix feels like if you would make a tight fist and poke your finger in the dip where your pointer finger is....if that makes sense lol

Although I check my cervix, I do find it difficult to figure out if its open or closed especially when its really high because I can barely reach it!

  • What  do is just check it every day until I feel it open! I checked it a few days and thought "I have no idea if it's open or closed" and then one day I felt it and it was wide open, and I could tell because of the difference from feeling it before. It all of a sudden felt like an dimple big enough to fit a finger in. I hope that makes sense...

If you can stomach the photos, this is actually a really helpful resource:

Wow! Cool to see, but wish I had pics to go along with what I'm feeling during a cycle.  Still very informative.
