rash = allergy?

Can a rash be the only symptom of a dairy allergy or is it most likely related to something else?LO has a facial rash and the pedi wanted me to give up dairy and chocolate. I have given up the obvious sources of dairy but not the hidden ones. It hasn't seemed to make much of a difference.  The rash has started to clear then will come back just a little and repeat.  I think the rash is due to something else I just haven't found the cause yet.  Its only on his face.

Re: rash = allergy?

  • A rash can definitely be symptoms of a milk protein allergy but so can Diarrhea and vomiting because every little one is different.  Since you?re BFing and have already been eliminating obvious dairy (like milk) I would  try eliminating hidden dairy (like whey) because even though they are ?hidden? LOs can still have a reaction to them.
    I'm currently BFing my LO and he is allergic to diary/soy.  It took about 4 wks after starting an elimination diet to see all of his symptomes clear up.  He had ezceman on his tummy and legs, reflux, and green mucuosy blood-streaked stools.
    You may want to check out this blog entry which talks about dairy ingredients: https://bit.ly/dOUGoM you should be on the lookout for.  Also, these websites are helpful: Allergy Moms (www.allergymoms.com), Kids With Food Allergies (www.kidswithfoodallergies.org), Go Dairy Free (www.godairyfree.org) and Food Allergy Living (www.foodallergyliving.net).
    Good luck!
