Started my NIAW Statuses on FB...

I wasn't going to start until tomorrow, but I bit the bullet and started tonight with this:

"Today marks the start of National Infertility Awareness Week, the one time a year I hop up on my soap box and attempt to educate people on the struggle we have been battling for over 5 years.  Infertility Myth #1: If you just relax/go on vacation/get drunk/ do it "like this" you'll get pregnant!  Reality: If relaxing or getting drunk were a cure for infertility, I would have my own show on TLC by now.  The truth is that infertility is a disease and for many couples such as us, it takes years of costly, painful and invasive procedures that so far have only led to tears and sadness.  It's best not to offer advice to someone struggling with infertility, but rather listen and offer your support."  

Good luck to you ladies and especially to anyone who is "coming out" for the first time this week!

 PS - The status didn't fit in the status box so I had to break it up and "comment" on my own status to fit it all in....

 I love that statement!!  I have always been open about our IF issues and I take NIAW to try to educate people as well.

I stole some of the wording here but I also added to the myth part...."or hang around babies, rub the bellies of pregnant women or drink the water."

 For someone reason a few "friends" felt the need to say this to me a few times.  Not cool.
