DH and I kinda like the name Devin, but it seems there are a lot of girls named Devin and we prefer a more "boy" name. Nevin is Irish for "little saint" which I think is nice. Opinions? I like more uncommon names, and would like the idea of him having a more original name...
thanks!
Re: Opinion on the name Nevin?
I think it is ok. Will probably be mistaken for Kevin a lot.
I don't know, I don't love it but I don't hate it either.

I also agree it would be confused with Kevin.
The way I look at names, if you're comfortable with your kid correcting others and spelling it for people, then go for it. (DD will always have to do that.)
This makes sense as he was Welsh and Irish and very "into" his heritage. I did assume it had meaning, but couldn't be bothered to look it up, thanks!
I just met a little boy named Nevan, I think it is nice. As for confusion the name with Kevin, this type of confusion happens to many, many people: for example I know a Hannah and everyone thinks she is an Anna until she corrects them.
And to the OP, I have two Devin's in my class right now, one is a boy and one is a girl. I like Nevan much better.
