We love the name Carly (we want something simple but not too common), however, does it sound like a nickname for Caroline, Carolyn, etc? Or do you think it sounds fine for a first name? Our top girl choice is Carly Elizabeth- after DH's grandmother.
I know a few Carly's whose names are just Carly(different combos of beginning with K or ending in -ie). I also know a Carlinda but I like Carly better. I personally would choose a different spelling than Carly just because with that spelling it makes me think of the disney thing iCarly. However, her generation would likely not really know that show/product line all too much as it will likely die out, so I don't think it would be too problematic.
My niece is Carly Alice. Actually, she was almost Carly Elizabeth, also after DH's (her mother's) grandmother! I think it's really nice paired with a classic middle name like the one you've chosen.
I guess technically now I should be SecondBabyMomma
I think it CAN stand alone, but I do prefer it as a NN for Caroline.
Agree.
Also, I don't know what your popularity threshold is, but there are 6 spellings of Carly on the top 1,000 list, not counting Carolines or Carolyns. Your spelling is around #200.

How would you spell it? I thought 'Carly' was the more traditional ("correct") way. I'm fine with around #200...just nothing super trendy. DD's name is #40ish right now.

I would only spell it Carly. Anything else looks super trendy and you-neek.
I love it! It's DD's name and lots of people have told us how much they like her name. We spelled it Karly, though, only because I let DH choose if we should spell it with a C or a K and he liked the K better. I actually prefer it with a C.
K, born 05/06/10
B, born with a few surprises 07/20/11
I like this name. I think it's a nice name and more updated sounding than Carla. That said, it's a little on the "cute" side, and I am not sure it ages well. But, I think it ages better than something like Kaylee.
