Circus goers?

DD watched a Dora episode that involved bringing a lion to the circus. Now she keeps talking about wanting to go to the circus and see the circus lion. Anyone taken a child her age to the circus? Which one did you go to? Is there anything besides the Ringling Bros? A small local type of thing? 

I know it's crazy but she keeps talking about it. thoughts?

    Are there even any circus shows besides Ringling Bros anymore?  I have no idea!  I've been to Ringling Bros when I was a kid, but I think it might be a little overwhelming if not a little scary for a child her age.  I remember fire and loud noises and other things like that.  Maybe the zoo to see the lion??

    We go to the zoo and see the lions all the time. But she wants to see the circus. She just heard it in Dora and got in her head. Oh well, I guess we will wait.

    Yeah it's just so hard to predict what those shows will be like.  I'd hate to spend the money on a ticket and then she get scared and have to leave you know?

    The circus comes around every year - and I think that there is one other that Ringling Bros/B&Bailey's Circus.  I know that there was one at Cal Expo a few years ago and it wasn't Ring Bros.  

    We've taken Ryan to see the circus every year since he was 18 mos old. It's sort of "what we do" since we don't seem to take vacations or anything.  He's always loved it.  The first year (18 mos), I spent the last 45 of it with him in the carrier at the top of the stairs...bouncing and him sleeping.  I still am glad that we took him.  We always go on opening night when tickets are half price.   

    It comes to Sacramento in late August or early September.  We'll go again this year too.

    Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

    oh cool. Well I did see it is coming in August, maybe we will go too. 

    ETA: Looks like it will be in Oakland on her 2nd birthday! How serendipitous. I will definitely take that as a sign. Tickets not on sale yet.
