A friend gave us her Pali crib - for free! It was very nice and generous but here's the deal - it's from 2002 and has a drop side. We put it together and my DH said that we can screw in the side that drops and make it non-drop.
Thoughts? Is this safe? Is this a good crib?
Everything else on it seems stable...
It was this or the Graco Lauren crib that we originally were going to purchase. We do want to go with safety over cost and the Graco crib surely doesn't cost much...but this seems to be a nice crib and if we make it safer by taking the side and stabilizing it, what can go wrong?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts or what you know of Pali...
Re: Pali Crib
OMG totally going through the same thing right now. I was given a crib by a relative who's used it for both her kids (probably purchased in 2001) and it's a drop side. I've been googling drop side cribs and am scared to death to use it now. I also don't know the manufacturer of the crib b'c she lost the paperwork on it so I have no idea if it was recalled but my goddaughter was born in 2008 and she was also in this crib w/out a problem. I'm so stressed over this....but I agree w/ pp that I'd rather "have a crib that's stable and endured some years of use than a new, cheap one that supposedly meets safety regulations."
