I want to order a custom...I'm hoping 1 yard is enough? Can I get away with 1/2?

Usually they want 22x22 inches.

Some places will let you do .75 yards. If not, I'd do a full yard then use the scrap for an applique.

unless your doing a nb dipe get at least 3/4 yard, otherwise with the direction the material stretches it'll be too small to fit the whole diaper

I believe it takes roughly 3/4 yard. When I do a custom halfsie - I always send a FQ of each.
