Cloth Diapering

Prepping prefolds with other clothes??

This may be a stupid question, I know I can't wash prefolds with other diapers until they are prepped because of the oils getting on the other diapers, but can I wash them with other baby stuff--like blankets and towels and stuff? Just things that I can wash on hot. I just am trying to save water and electricity on 6 loads of laundry for a few dozen diapers.

Re: Prepping prefolds with other clothes??

  • I would boil water and soak them for 20 min and then do one wash.  I could be wrong about the boil time.  Maybe a lady who is more experienced here on CD knows more.  But, that will save your wash time if you boil the prefolds.  Course if you have a couple dozen it might take a while.

In the long run, it really isn't that much electricity and water.

  • I always prep natural fiber stuff with clothes. It's not a problem at all. The oils aren't bad, or even visible on other items, they just cause diapers to repel. Obviously not an issue with clothes, towels, etc.
