Pregnant after a Loss

cautiously tip-toeing in . . . intro

I'm very nervous about already posting here I'm affraid I will jinx myself.

But here is my intro.  I had a m/c in Jan and 1st AF showed on March 1st (induced with Provera).  April no period so labs drawn on April 5th to confirm no pregnancy and check Progesterone and all checked out.  Began Provera on April 8th - 14th.  I was going on day 8 off of Provera meds and still no AF and took a HPT which came back positive.  I took a HPT a week ago and it was  BFN.  Yesterday my BFP was confirmed by b/w.

I need many T & P's because as much as I want to be hopeful at this time, besides my last m/c in the back of my mind and the fact that I was on Provera (Medroxyprogesterone) during the potential time I would have concieved I am now very scared.

I have heard so many mixed things about the Provera and I'm not sure what to believe.  I think some get the drug confused with Depo Provera which I know is a bc agent so the information I do read online I'm not sure how much is truly accurate.

I've heard that it is a form of just basically progesterone and it won't cause a m/c but then I've heard that you will m/c.

Of course I can't call a doctor because everybody out for the weekend and I don't think this qualifies as an ER trip because there's nothing really they could do anyways.

I'm just very nervous!!!!

  • Congratulations! I would assume that your doctor has an on-call person. I would call them if you're concerned. Obviously if you had blood work done your provider knows you are pregnant- did they address this with you at all yesterday? I hope you get the answers you need today and that you have a H&H 9 months!

I work at a hospital and although we had no OB doctors in yesterday, and my family office as well as my OB was closed because of Good Friday.  I had a Nurse Practioner write and order for the labs and had the labs sent to my OB but I'm guessing they may not get the results until Monday when everybody is back in the office.  :(

  • Congrats and welcome!

I took Provera to induce my first post m/c AF back in November, and was about to take it again this past cycle as well.

Obviously I got my BFP instead, but my OB assured me each time (even though we did b/w before hand) that taking the Provera would not harm an existing pregnancy if I was in fact pregnant.

I know I am just an internet stranger, but hopefully that's somewhat reassuring that another medical professional has said the same.

I hope that you get some good news soon!

Thank You for that it does help!  I'm trying really hard to not stress.  There's nothing that can be done at this point but just wait and see.  Monday I will have answers, it's just the waiting that's horrid!

I hope I get good news too!  FX crossed!
