Two Under 2

Oh! This is when 2 Under 1 Gets Hard...

DS is 14 Months and DD is 3 Months.  It was all going along fairly smoothly, for the most part...

Until DS, then DH, then myself, then DD all got the stomach flu, at.the.same.time.  Concurrently with the stomach flu, DS is getting in molars, I got my first post-partum period (Woah, the flood gates have opened) and DH and I both have chest colds, in ADDITION to the vomiting/diarheah stomach flu we ALL have at the SAME TIME.

Woah.  Please tell me a story about how it could be much harder (something realistic and not too guilt-trippy) so I'll take off my pity pants?

Re: Oh! This is when 2 Under 1 Gets Hard...

  • All of us sick with it coming out of both ends at the same time is hands down the hardest thing I've ever done parenting wise.

Add to that a flood level AF?  Dear lord.  You're in the trenches, Hon.  Deep.

    I'm so so so sorry.

    I have felt your pain.

The only thing I have to offer is that it can't last forever and once it's past you're gonna think everything else is easy by comparison.

Is there any family near by that might be willing to come help?

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.

  • Thanks for the affirmation that this will not last!!! :)  Yes, we used my in-laws for one night when DH and I were both crawling back and forth from the toilet.  Unfortunately just that one night watching the kids, they now have the stomach flu too. :(  :(

  • Holy cow. Well, it could always be worse...somehow. But in realistic, every day terms? I'm having a hard time coming up with anything. Hang in there, babe, you'll survive!!!

  • You poor thing!

The 3 of us were sick with the flu for a few days in January. It was so bad that my MIL had to come over to help with DD since DH and I were vomitting continuously as well. I thought that was bad enough; I can't imagine also having AF.

Hang in there and I hope you all feel better soon. Hugs!

  • Oh geez.. that's the worst.. If you can.. air out the house and get lysol wipes... We had it (all varying degrees of it) this winter and it is the worst.. only support I can give is what others said.. it will be OVER soon... it is temporary.. ours lasted about 5 days.. although once you think it is gone.. it might not be.. just CLEAN and SANITIZE.. b/c you can re-infect. Hang in there.. and try to get pedialyte/gatorade into yourselves..  Good luck.

  • We had this same flu the week before DD#2 was born (DH, me, DD, DS, and my mom who was in town to babysit when I went into labor with #3).  So I don't know, trade flood AF for being 38 weeks pg with #3.  Maybe a toss up??  I do know that vomiting with a huge belly really hurts though.  The day after the worst of it, I was in the hospital for an external version to try to get my breech baby to flip.  While I was there they gave me 3 bags of fluids to rehydrate me.

You (and everyone else) will feel better soon though.  Vomiting flu is the worst no matter the circumstances.  Hugs!
