Since I'm now pregnant, the pressure is on for my husband and I to get names figured out. We've already decided on our girls name, so there are no worries there.
We have way too many ideas for boy names, and today I saw Callum/Calum mentioned in a thread. I thought it was pronounced 'kale-um' but saw it's actually 'kal-um'. Can it be pronounced either way or is it set on 'kal-um'?
I like it because it's a Scottish name, and I'd like something Irish or Scottish. The others we like are Finnegan, Thane (DH's mn, his grandpa's first name), and maybe Thomas (DH's dad is Bob so they named him Dylan, he wants to keep the name thing going by possibly naming our son Thomas, ie Bob Dylan to Dylan Thomas)
It's early so we have plenty of time to throw things around still, middle name may be Robert or Andrew.
Re: Boy names, Callum/Calum
I agree. I really like this name, but my last name begins with 'Em' and Calum Em____ is just too much /m/!
I've never met anyone named Callum/Calum so I wasn't really sure how it should sound. I've said it out loud a few times and 'kal-um' is starting to grow on me.
My guilty pleasure boys name is Hache, it means axe in french. We live near a place called 'Lac La Hache' and that's where I got it from. But it sounds like 'Hash' and I think everyone would think this kids parents are high 24/7 haha.
I have a friend who has a Callum, pronounced Cal-uhm. I wouldn't think to say it Kale-uhm. I like it.
Love Thane and Thomas.
Hate Finnegan.
