Wallet Clicky Poll

I HAVE to downsize my wallet. I have always been a long wallet girl, you know the kind of wallet that dollar bills fit lengthwise in. But this necessitates a larger purse sometimes since the long wallet takes up so much room. So I am going to make a dedicated attempt to downsize to a smaller wallet.

So out of boredom and curiosity, here is my stupid clicky poll.

Re: Wallet Clicky Poll

  • Right now I have a long wallet, but I have carried a smaller one in the past.  It IS possible.

I really want to carry a smaller purse -- my wallet isn't my issue.  It's all the kid crap I have to put in it.  I'm trying to avoid my purse being a piece of small luggage like my mom and sister carry, the type that just screams, "I'M A MOM".  Stick out tongue

  • I realize I'm no help, because I voted "Long Wallet" and you already have a long wallet. It would drive me crazy to fold my dollar bills in half and stuff them in a smaller wallet. That being said, I rarely carry cash with me. So, in further thinking, if you rarely carry cash...then try the smaller wallet:)

  • I have the All in One wristlet from Vera Bradley.  I don't ever carry a lot of cash on me, so I don't mind folding up the few dollars I do have.  It's got a little slot I can put my cell phone in too.  So if I'm going somewhere that I don't want to carry my purse and diaper bag, I just throw the wristlet in my diaper bag and I've got all I need.
  • I second the wristlet.  It is easy to toss in the diaper bag, or I can use it as a purse for errands.

  • I really like the Vera zip around wallets.  I have several... there are a lot of card slots, a zipper for change, a pocket for cash, and I can zip it closed to keep my checkbook and receipts inside.  Plus it's easy to grab and throw in the diaper bag/backpack.

  • I voted long wallet since that's what I have now, but if folding your bills is what's holding you back then I suggest a wallet that folds in half. I have a coach one and it's very easy to use and holds lots of stuff. It opens to the size of a long wallet, but then folds in half and snaps together so it's the size of a small wallet when you put it in your purse. I'm sure there are many other brands that make something similar.

  • I LOVE my all in one wristlet from vera. i can easily take it out of my purse and drop it in the baby bag if need be plus it has a place for my phone.
  • My question for everyone that has the smaller/non-mom wallets how do you downsize everything to fit in something that small? Between the debit/credit cards, zoo membership, 2 insurance cards, 1-2 shopper cards, check book, punch cards for stores, and place to store cash, coins (and extra hair rubber bands & bobby pins) I just cant imagine getting it all into anything smaller than what I have.

Do you just pick the essentials? Where do you store the stuff you dont use on a regular basis but still need?

I have 2 credit cards, 1 ATM card, 2 insurance cards in my wristlet.  I keep the zoo membership card in the car, and I don't ever carry my check book on me.  I don't really have any shopper cards or punch cards other than my Kroger car which is on my keys.  It has enough space to carry change (and a hair band and bobby pin if you please!)  I guess I'm a minimalist when it comes to my wallet.

  • I'm not sure if what I use is considered a wallet or a change purse or something else.  It is a small square leather wallet-ish thing that I got from Coach.  I put a huge wad of cards in it (credit, memberships, insurance, gift cards, etc...)  and have a little cash tucked in there as well.  I am occasionally frustrated having to rifle through the big stack of cards, but it works really well to switch between my purse and diaper bag (or occasionally stick in my pocket).

  • I have a Coach Mini Skinny. I LOVE IT! For me, it is a MUST, because I am the most forgetful person in the United States... and I would/did lose my wallet way too many times before I got this. Now, I have my keys hooked too it so I can't get into my car and go anywhere without my wallet.

I do have to fold my bills in half 2 times to get them to fit... but since I carry like $2 cash on me it really isn't a big deal at all.

     I heart my mini skinny!!!

  • I have a square wallet that folds in half.  When it is open it is the same size as a long wallet so I don't have to fold my bills.  It is nice because it has a nice change purse and can hold a lot of my cards.  I am a little sad because I just went to Kate Spade to see if they still sell it and they do not.  I've had this one for over 5 years so it is a really really good wallet in fact I think I need a new one!
  • I don't have a wallet :(

I also don't really have a purse. I need to go shopping.

  • I have a wallet. I don't have to fold the bills in half myself because the wallet stores them lengthwise and the closes to fold them in half. If that makes any sense? However, I probably fall in the special snowflake category because I HATE carrying a purse/wallet/anything for that matter. I'll carry one when I absolutely have to (which is usually when I'm heading somewhere that requires a camera). Otherwise, I prefer to just stick my ID and debit card behind my cell phone in my cell phone case and run. I make such a horrible female. Stick out tongue

And to answer Lauren, the wallet I have holds about 40 cards in it. It has eight slots on the left side and then 4 slots in the center and then 4 on the right side. And it has two long slots for dollar bills. I got it at Macys back when I was in high school. I don't know if I'm doing a good job of explaining it. Lol! It's not one of the long ones, but it's not one of the small coin purse with a few card slot ones either. I tried looking for a picture of something similar and couldn't find anything. I'll suck it up and bring it next weekend if you're coming. Stick out tongue

  • I have a short wallet.  Actually it's technically a card holder, but I use it as my wallet.  I've never liked the wallets with all the slots for organizing, I don't know why... maybe b/c I'm not organized (at least my wallet isn't).  I like to shove my junk in it and go.  I've had the same wallet for going on 10 years and hope to never need a new one.

I have a "card holder" rather than a wallet, but it works for me as a wallet.  I have a big wad of cards in there (license, debit card, 4 insurance cards, different membership cards) and it fits cash too (and I don't mind folding/unfolding bills since I rarely use the cash).  I don't carry my checkbook since I can just use my debit card... I only write a few checks a month, so I just write my check before I leave and take it with me in my wallet, my checkbook stays home.  Everything else I carry goes into my bag, not my wallet.
