** Structenggal **

Sorry I missed your quote post yesterday-That is so funny! I've never known anyone else with a dog named Barley!

She as a boxer/rhodesian mix (she passed away almost 2 years ago).

He got her as an 8 week old puppy when he was 20-a gift from a girlfriend, and him, her, and his roommates were all sitting around drinking trying to name her and they decided they would put names in a hat. Whatever name got drawn would be the name-no arguing. So, they put the names in, and he pulls out Cocoa-the girlfriend's choice, and he instantly vetoed it and saw barley on the beer ingredients and that was her name! He's not one for rules!

The other "how I knew I loved him" story was when he was driving from Wyoming to CA and go stuck (in Idaho I think) in a tornado. He went to a gas station and asked to come in an seek shelter-they said he could come in, but not Barley-It wasn't sanitary...In a freakin tornado??? Come on! So, of course there was no way he'd leave her so they hid out in the gas station bathroom. He's a keeper!

  • How funny!  When he told me that his dog was named Barley, I asked if it was because she's barley colored or if he just really really liked beer.  He said it was the color (turns out his family names their dogs after food).  Our Barley is a 12yr old, 80lb, scaredy dog.  She actually had me up at 4am this morning taking the batteries out of of the smoke detector - it was chirping (3 rooms away from where we were sleeping - I could hardly hear it) and it was freaking her out so much she was shaking.

DH would NEVER in a million year leave her alone, either.  :-)
