The Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued new rules for ALL
cribs (not PNPs), not just drop-side cribs that will take effect on June
28th, 2011.
Basically, any crib that is currently in your home or on the market does not meet these new standards and will need to be disassembled and destroyed when you are done using it.

Re: XP: New cribs rules from the CPSC
That sounds incredibly stupid. I'm glad I live in Canada.
If it's not drop side (no moveable parts)
and the slats are close together (can't get head stuck in them) and doesn't have cut-outs in headboard/footboard
and the mattress fits properly
and it's not painted with lead paint or unfinished/splintering/slivering
How can they not be safe? I guess because DH is a carpenter, I know he has assembled it properly and sturdily, but still... This is just stupid.
It looks like the new rules apply to cribs "sold" after June 28th, but what does that mean?
I ordered a crib last night. It is supposed to arrive in 10 to 14 weeks, which would likely put it after June 28th. Does it have to comply with the new criteria? Is it "sold" when it is ordered or when it is ultimately delivered?
I also can't see your link.
Definitely call the manufacturer to ask. Not sure why you can't see the link...

Mine converts into a toddler bed and then into a full size bed. I wasn't planning on giving it away. I will check it everytime I change the sheets.
Craziness, was just going through all the recalls for baby products...wow there are a lot.
