My midwife (who is also one of my close friends) actually told me exactly how to check myself... I'm a little freaked out to do it, but completely curious at the same time!! Has anyone ever done this? Thoughts?
First off, I am also one who checked CP while TTC so I know my own cervix and I am a L&D nurse so I check cervixes daily. Second, I can't manage to pee IN the cup at the MWs office either, all over it yes, in it - not quite ha. Disgusting I know! Third, I guess I am one of the few who does attempt to check my own cervix. I am pretty posterior at this point (my cervix is pointing towards my back) so it is hard to feel/reach, but I can feel it a little bit. Once your cervix becomes more anterior (pointing towards your front) it would be easier to feel, but again it depends on how much of a contortionist you are when it comes to working around the belly.
And I should add that when we check another woman's cervix we use two fingers to get a better idea, there is NO WAY that I can reach two fingers up there around the belly.

Re: Checking your own cervix?!
i would love to try and educate myself, but I'm afraid that there's no reaching that far! haha.
I will willingly wait for my OB and her sterile environment!
I had previously when I was having trouble TTC - I had ovulation problems and cervix position is a major sign.
Now, I couldn't reach it if I tried! I have to half stand up to wipe when I pee for crying out loud! LOL!
Seriously.
Same here, but even then it was a little difficult. I can't even imagine doing it now! My arm would have to grow a foot to reach around my belly!
