We loved the miracle blanket! DS slept like a log! He recently started rocking side to side and kicking so hard that he would escape it. The other morning, I found him with his feet kicked out the pocket and had wiggled the wrap up around his neck and face. Miracle Blanket is done. Too scary. First night without swaddling was awful. He would startle awake every 30 minutes.
Technically, how long are you supposed to swaddle? I could buy other blankets to continue this but he is much happier if I would just let him tummy sleep. He rolls from tummy to back so he has the head control to tummy sleep now but I also want to make sure he gets the benefit of swaddling. Everything I find says read the cues of the baby...a specified time would be helpful!
Re: How long are you supposed to swaddle?
He sounds like a busy body like my lil K. She HATES being swaddled and has from day one. So I dont think there is any length of time that they HAVE to be swaddled. What works well for my little kicker is a cocoon. If she kicks her self out the cocoon it will be collected by her feet and nothing is in her face.
She sleeps like a log in it and it also gives her room to move around. I also have a peace of mind knowing she's warm and cozy.
Every baby is different. My niece hated swaddling from day 1. DD needs it or will startle herself awake in minutes. I use a oversized baby blanket though and make it good and tight. So far, she's still "burrito" status come morning.
Have you considered the Halo sleepsacks? He won't be able to kick out of it and the swaddle part is held to the rest with velcro. Might be worth checking out.
