Help putting a jibbitz on DS' crocs

He got this jibbitz today for his birthday, and I've just spent the last 30 minutes trying to get it on his crocs.  Obviously, I'm missing something.  It shouldn't be this hard, right?  Fill me in...whats the trick??

    Its not you, jibbitz are so hard to put in the holes on those little crocs. Try going from an angle, putting in one side then the other. I would say it still takes a good amount of time and muscle.

    Yes, they are ridiculously hard!  It gets easier after the first one when you realize how much you have to force them through the slot.
