My CRAZY story!

So I have been meaning to post for awhile but have been insanely busy. Warning, this has to do with a baby so don't read it if it will upset you.

As you guys know we are 2.5 years TTC. 3 REs later we are still unexplained and after much soul searching we were gearing up for IUI #1. I was ready to move to adoption and had researched it ad nausea but DH wanted to try ART. Our friends and family however knew we were considering adotpion as a possibility at some point down the road.

I was waiting for AF to call the doctor to get our IUI rolling. 2 weeks ago I get a call that says basically "a friend of a friend has a 10 month old baby she can not care fo (long story but trust me she can NOT care for this baby), DCF is set to step in and take the child but gave her the option to voluntarily place it for adoption can you take it. You have to decide NOW and you have to come now". I left work immediately and drove 8 hours to get the baby. That night AF arrived. I did NOT call the RE to start our IUI (I called DH on teh way and told him to get a crib)!  Next day we did paperwork, bought things needed for the drive home, saw the DCF worker, etc. The next day I drove home. That was CD3, the day I would have started my meds for IUI. 

Now this is not all a "pie in the sky" story because it is still very risky.  We have temporary custody which means the mother could revoke that at any moment before we get the legal stuff taken care of.  The grandparents also want the baby but again can NOT care for the baby (I can't go into details unfortunately but you will have to trust me on this one).  They don't have any legal rights and since the mom is dead set against them having the baby (because of how they treated her as a child) they probably will not but you never know what crazy things judges decide.  We have hired an attorney and will go to court in a few weeks. 

So this is why I haven't been around!  We haven't had a spare moment. Our lives got turned upside down in the most unanticipated way.  In addition to taking care of a totally unexpected baby, we are outfitting a nursery with no notice at all, dealing iwth doctors, and DCF, and lawyers and trying to figure out work schedules (I jsut left work when I got the call and haven't been back since - fortunately they are understanding). Oh yeah, did I mention we're taking care of a baby.  Just nuts.

I am sooooooooooo terrified.  DH is always optimistic about everything and says repeatedly that he jsut knows this is our baby forever. I am not as optimistic and am so scared that she will jsut be gone.  I started crying last night thinking about it - you have all of these hopes and dreams for the future iwth this little person and for her to suddenly be gone would seem almost like a m/c (I mean no disrespect to anyone who has had a miscarriage - I jsut mean you have those dreams for that little person and then know they will not happen).  We are doing what we can to keep her and the rest is out of our hands. So much of this feels like IF again - the lack of control, the hoping against hope, the fear of loss, the prayers to be a family forever.

And yes, when I raced out of town and packed the most rediculous suitcase (5 pairs of pants, and ONE shirt and a *** - huh?  a suit????) I DID pack my lucky socks :-)  And I wore my pomegranate necklace :-)  So we are hoping this is our permanent BFP and this is our sticky baby.

I know this isnt' the board for this kind of stuff but this is MY board and I wanted to let you ladies know why I disappeared.  I don't know if you guys want updates or not, or if you prefer not to hear. Let me know. And yes, I know this story sounds crazy and you are all wondering if you really just read this - I am living it and can't believe that it is real. This is a crazy, crazy, crazy life I live.  Please, please say a prayer or good Karma, or positive thoughts, or whatever it is you do.

History of IF and 2.5 years TTC. The day we were to start our first IUI we received a call that changed our lives forever and 10 month old Olivia joined our family. Shortly thereafter we got a surprise BFP and baby 2 is due July 5, 2012

    ~SAIF/PAIF/Everyone Welcome~ 

    Me= 37 and DH = 41 

    Dx: DOR, Endo, APA+ (really high beta 2 glycoprotein antibody and high everything else tested), heterozygous MTHFR mutation, positive for lupus anticoagulant, high FSH, low AMH and both tubes blocked (per HSG on 3/8/11)

    IVF #1 - long lupron (with HGH, intralipids, lovenox and BA); 4 retrieved, 3 fertilized; ET 2 blasts and 1 frozen = BFN

    IVF #2 - a version of antagonist with EPP (with HGH, intralipids, lovenox and BA); 6 retrieved, 4 mature, 3 fertilized, 2 blasts and 1 frozen blast transferred on day 5 = BFN.

    IVF #3 April was postponed to May, May was canceled. June/July was canceled. Had a cyst aspiration and then began IVF #3 in August. ER on 8/22; ET on 8/24 with AH. +HPT on 9/5. Beta #1 (11dpo) = 3; Beta #2 (15dpo) = 29; Beta #3 (17dpo) = 60; Beta #4 (19 dpo) = 118. Heartbeat at 6 weeks 6 days =132.  Lil is here!

    TTC#2:  Trigger + TI = BFN; Clomid + Trigger + IUI = BFN.

    IVF #4:  BCP + MDLF + Lovenox = 7R, 1F = Transferred 1 6-cell embryo on day 3 = BFN

    IVF #5:  MDLF + Lovenox = 4R, 1F = Transferred 1 10-cell compacting embryo on day 3 = BFN

    IVF #6:  (New RE):  Long Antagonist November 2014 (transferred two 8 cell grade 1 embryos and froze one blast) = BFN

    FET#1:  BFN

    Wow.  That is so crazy.  All of it.  But I would've done the same thing right now.  Good luck with the legal headache... but it will be so worth it.  Wow again.  Enjoy!!!

    Diagnosis: MFI and Egg Quality Issues IVF#1-October-BFN ER-16 eggs, 8 mature, 7 fertilized, 2transferred and no frozen IVF#2- March-Beta 3/19 ER- 12 eggs, 8 mature, 7 fertilized, 2 transferred and 1 frozen-BFN. IVF#3 July ER-19 eggs, 13 mature, 10 fertilized...waiting til Day 5 to PGD. PGD results-4 out of 5 embryos are normal and will be banked. IVF#4 Sept 11' 22 eggs, 16 mature, 15 fertilized...waiting til Day 5 to PGD.     Wow!! How amazingly wonderful and scary at the same time. I can't even begin to imagine what you are going through right at this moment.

    All I can say is give that little girl all the love you can, even if for some reason she isn't your forever child, she deserves every ounce of Love you can give her while she is with you.

    Praying that she will never be taken from you! I am so happy for you and YH that you now have a baby in your home!!

    OMG!!!!  That is crazy and amazing and wonderful and scary and blessed at the same time.  I so hope for you this is your sticky baby!   That baby and friend of yours are very lucky people that your heart was so ready and open for this very thing.  Congrats!  I would love to hear the updates.

    WOW.... I read this story twice once out loud to DH.  I can't believe that all this happened so quickly.  I am wishing you so much luck and sending you so many T&P that this all works out.  I have a really good feeling about this for you.. I don't know why..I just do.  It just seems so incredible.  I have been doubting the presence of God lately.. but stories like this reaffirm my belief that there is something more powerful out there working in wonderous ways! Good luck! And I can't wait to hear the progress updates.

    What a great story.  Crazy, but great! I have secret thoughts that some day, someone will drop a baby off on my doorstep.  :)  I hope you get to keep your little girl forever! She's already so lucky to have you in her life! Congrats and enjoy!

    I am so, so happy for you and your DH!  I have a good feeling that all of the legal issues with this process will be sorted out and your LO will be safe and cared for by you two!  She is so lucky to have you and your DH in her life!  I will keep my fingers crossed that everything will work out perfectly :)
