A crib is something you should not buy used. Check Ikea if you need something cheap.
100% agree, same goes for carseats. And in the next ~2 months I bet a lot of styles will go on clearance again so you can get some great deals (I saw girls get nice Graco cribs for $80).
While I disagree with the others (I think it's fine to buy a used crib as long as it's not a) a drop-side or b) you can't fit a pop can through the spaces between slats), I think 6 weeks is a little early to buy a crib. If anything bad happens, would you be happy to save it in the basement for next time or would it be a constant reminder? (I hate to be the negative one, but it had to be said).
We picked out our crib at 12 weeks and then waited until we found a good sale on it at about 20 weeks.
Yes, it's too soon. Other good deals will come, plus like PP said, don't buy a used crib. Read up on what to look for when buying a crib, "Baby Bargains" is a good start.
I would wait until your big ultrasound. By that point, our inlaws stepped up and said that they would purchase the crib for us. So it worked out.

Blessing from God, Blessing from God, Blessing from God, Blessing from God.
I would never buy a used crib, 6 weeks or not (which I think is crazy in and of itself). It doesn't matter if it's not drop-side or can't fit a pop can through the slats, it can still be unsafe.
Yes, it's crazy. I, as well as several of my friends, had miscarriages after six weeks. I'd wait until at LEAST 13 weeks, probably closer to 20 before buying anything big like a crib.
There will be way more deals you come across, be patient. I'm 30 weeks tomorrow and still don't have a crib. I just don't want it sitting around or set up so I have to dust/clean around it for the next 10 weeks...

Everyone is different. Just do whatever you want and feel is best. We bought a crib 4 months before we even got pregnant because we found a good deal. Even if (God forbid) something were to happen to this pregnancy, you're still going to need a crib if you get pregnant again, adopt, etc. Good luck!

I would not use, much less buy a used crib, you don't know if it is missing a screw or any other vital part. It just isn't safe, and you have plenty of time to save some money and get a new one...
Not crazy just impulsive. Take your time to find what is right for you. As you can see in this thread you can find a brand new crib with excellent safety and user reviews for the same price. Why would you pay that for a used one?
I found that most of the things I wanted at first I changed my mind on after doing lots of research on baby items. There are even things that I bought or got at my shower that I don't even want anymore because I found something else that I like more.
Check out the Ikea and Graco cribs. They are really nice, well reviewed and in that price range. GL
The only time I would use a hand-me-down crib, is if a friend was done using it and I knew them well enough to know that it has been well taken care of and all of the pieces are with it. I would never purchase a crib off of Craigslist.
As far as the timing goes, WAIT! There will always be more deals to be had. Twice a year baby manufacturers reduce inventory to bring out new product. I believe it is January and August....

Also, the Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued new rules for cribs that will start being enforced in June. I would wait until after June 24th to buy a crib to be sure that I'm getting one - new - that meets all the new regulations.

Ditto this. Definitely hold out until the big u/s.

I bought our Graco Charleston crib on clearance for $89. So, I wouldn't pay $100 for a used on on craigslist.
I got our Graco Sarah crib new on sale for $100. I would never buy a used crib either. Actually...I'm not a fan of used stuff in general...the only thing I'd buy used for LO is clothes.
Funny story, my hubby (who actually puts thought into his presents!) bought a crib as a christmas present for me last year. I wasn't even pregnant and we hadn't even started trying at that point in time. It was his way of saying he was ready to start trying and I got pregnant right in January. Luckily he picked out something that I really really like!
Anyways, you can buy new cribs at walmart for just a bit more. They are actually pretty decent quality too!

Yes - we have the Ikea Gulliver - super safe, great ratings, and NOT used. It was $99.

I personally wouldn't buy a used crib. However, if you check the model and its not recalled, its up to you whether you want a used crib or not.
I bought my crib a week after I found out I was PG. Most people say to wait until after 12-13wks but I was just too excited and the crib went on sale.
