I actually kind of like it. It's not my typical style, but I think it could really grow on me. I feel like it is along the lines of Athena and Philomena which are both names that I really like a lot.

I really like it! But I wouldn't use it unless she had some connection to the number 8. Not necessarily an 8th child, but maybe born on the 8th or in August or something like that. Or maybe an 8th grandchild.
You might also like Olympia, Lavinia, or Lucretia.
Ditto. Mostly
because it literally means "eighth" and DH's family takes the ordinal
Latin names literally (their fifth child is Quintin and they considered
naming their eighth Octavian. Yes, they have eight kids). I love Latin
names like Aurelia, Livia, Antonia...I'll try to think of others.

I like it, but would never use it. It sounds a bit over the top for me, as much as I like it. In addition, like a pp, my family can be quite literal about certain things. Our next child would be the SEVENTH grand child for my parents, so unless I have twins, can't do it.
I do, however, have Flavia on my short list, which feels like it has a similar vibe.
I like it but what nicknames would come from it? I call my friends named Lisa, "Lise" and Jaime, "Jame" etc. And everyone calls me "Ash". People are innately lazy. Wonder what people would call a girl named Octavia
NMS but I did meet an Octavia at summer camp many moons ago. She was the eighth child and born on August 8th. I think her parents were academics also.

"And can it be that in a world so full and busy, the loss of one weak creature makes a void in any heart, so wide and deep that nothing but the width and depth of vast eternity can fill it up." - Charles Dickens
I like it, but I don't automatically think of #8. I think of Octavia Minor, Caesar Augustus' sister...who is a good historical figure to be named after!
Re: Octavia
Love.
Although I'd never use it.

My Married Bio
Guilty pleasure name of mine.
That said, anytime I mention it, DH sings it loudly to the tune of the Activia commercial...

I like it!
It's both an easily spelled and pronounced name.
I really dislike it. A lot. I think it's way too masculine. As far as O names go, I love Ophelia way more.
I knew a guy in high school named Octavio who was a total douche and that might be part of it too...

PAL/PGAL Welcome
Impressive! It would have been a shame to name her anything other than Octavia.
